Virsto Software is engaged in software development for storage systems on the basis of the blocks working in combination with popular hypervisors of VMware of ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V. The main product of Virsto Storage Hypervisor company allows to create programmatically determined by DWH, i.e. does the same that with servers does a server hypervisor with storage systems.

The VMware company announced at the beginning of 2013 signing of the binding agreement about Virsto Software purchase. Terms of transaction are not disclosed. It is going to close it in the I quarter 2013 after accomplishment of standard procedures.

Virsto Software was created in 2007. Among founders - natives of Russia Alexander Miroshnichenko and Sergey Pashenkov.

Miroshnichenko in 1985 graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. According to the biography in LinkedIn social network, since 1990 it worked in the American companies - QStar Technologies, Veritas Software and PowerFile, then some time in Acronis belonging to the founder of Parallels Sergey Belousov. Belousov in the microblog on Twitter congratulated Alexander Miroshnichenko on sale to the company.

Sergey Pashenkov in 1981 graduated from Gubkin Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industry (now - Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas), and in 1985 received an academic degree of the candidate of science. Since 1997 it also worked in the American companies Tracer Technologies, 3Cube, with Veritas Software and PowerFile.

Holds a position of the executive technical director in Virsto Software Miroshnichenko, Pashenkov is the vice president for technologies.

"The companies implementing virtualization of servers note significant cost reduction, however after a while they understand that they cannot implement virtualization potential completely as are forced to buy in addition the high-performance equipment for data storage", - it is explained on the website Virsto. The technology which is offered by Virsto allows to solve this problem.
"VMware aims to offer clients the latest program developments which will be able significantly to increase their efficiency and to simplify IT infrastructure, - the vice president of VMware for DWH John Gilmartin said. - We consider that acquisition of Virsto will allow to accelerate rates of development of new technologies of data storage and will allow our clients to increase considerably efficiency and performance of DWH in virtual infrastructures".

VMware noted that the Virsto technology together with virtualization of jobs can cut down storage expenses of data counting on one workplace for 70%.
