2016: Plan of creation of division of car-sharing

The bonus car maker Volvo Cars announced at the beginning of 2016 plans to create division which will be engaged in car-sharing provision of services (sharing of cars). This step completely corresponds to the strategy of the company in the corresponding sphere of activity.

The division will be created based on Sunfleet – one of the first-ever companies in the field of car-sharing which is under control of Volvo since 1998. The Sunfleet company located in Sweden has about 50,000 subscribers in 50 cities of the country. In a year the number of transactions is about 250,000.

Sunfleet will play a key role in new division. At this Volvo announced that activity of division will be extended to other markets of the world, and the company will provide new types of service in full accordance with expectations of people regarding ownership and use of cars.

"Private ownership of cars will not disappear anywhere, but we from a position of car maker understand that scales of private ownership will be reduced, and - that is more important – the nature of ownership of the car will change. In Sweden we already have a concept checked and making profit, and we intend to expand market coverage, having made it global", - Håkan Samuelsson, the president and the CEO of Volvo Cars says.
