Android Pay is the system of contactless payments which allows to link the normal bank card to the application, and then to use service on the smartphone or the smartwatch for payment of goods and services in offline stores via NFC payment terminals and also on the websites and in applications on mobile devices.

Visa: Russia the leader in the number of payments via Android Pay

According to results of a research of an international payment system of Visa, Russia after China is one of leaders in use of innovations in the banking sector. The CEO of Visa in Russia Petelina Ekaterina at the Financial forum of Russia organized by the Vedomosti newspaper^[1] told about it].

The research about susceptibility of the national markets to innovations was conducted by Visa in 16 countries among advanced users (owners of smartphones and regular users of the Internet). Answering questions – whether you already use innovations in the banking sector or you are going to use them (only 20 positions)? – only China was ahead of Russians.

Russia also along with USA and Great Britain was included into top three in Visa by quantity of the generated tokens during the using of payment applications Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Android Pay. Moreover, our country much more overtakes other markets according to Android Pay, winning first place. As for the Apple application of Pay – that here Russia takes the third place.

Start of service in Russia

Users install the Android application of Pay from Google Play and link to it the bank cards (for May, 2017 the technology is supported by 12 Russian banks). Also the application allows to link loyalty cards. Service works on smartphones based on Android KitKat (4.4) and is newer — Lollipop (5.0, 5.1), Marshmallow (6.0) and Nougat (7.0, 7.1). For payment in terminals about the NFC device should have the NFC chip. Payment of purchases up to 1000 rubles is performed from the blocked screen. Depending on security settings of bank when using the service can request input of the PIN code.
