Functions and problems of MRO systems

MRO systems appeared from EAM systems and are intended for automation of activity of participants of a MRO when planning, providing with resources, accomplishment and the analysis of results of repairs and hardware maintenance.

Problems of MRO systems

  • solution and information providing tasks of service maintenance of the equipment;
  • management of service life and process of write-off;
  • optimization of structure and number of the park;
  • support of geographically distributed infrastructure of a MRO  , etc.

These systems allow to store a complete configuration of each unit of the serviced equipment in the park/fleet, to store the complete history of modifications, breakdowns and repairs, the history of replacement of parts, operational data (for example, data on an operating time, number of flight hours). The modern MRO systems can be integrated with onboard information systems, automatically receiving from them data on the faults which arose during flight. Such systems support international standards of storage and data exchange about vehicles (such as ATA Spec 2000 and PLCS), directives of the flight validity, work with bulletins of the industry  , etc.

Purpose of MRO systems

  • creation of a common information space of the enterprise and integration of processes of repair, supply, inventory management, finance and personnel;
  • increase in operational efficiency and controllability;
  • operational obtaining all necessary information;
  • optimization of planning and forecasting;
  • minimization warehouse excess due to supply "precisely in time";
  • operational data exchange with customers and suppliers.

Advantages of MRO systems

The main economic results received from implementation of MRO systems:

  • performance improvement of works on a MRO;
  • increase in availability quotient;
  • reduction of warehouse stocks;
  • reduction of cases of shortage of stocks;
  • increase in a share of scheduled repairs;
  • reduction of abnormal works;
  • reduction of overtime works;
  • reduction of waiting time of spare parts;
  • reduction of urgent purchases of Inventories;
  • more beneficial prices on the purchased Inventories.
