Media-Saturn Russia is present at Russia since 2006 and as of the beginning of 2012 includes the 36th shop. From them 32 are a part of Media Markt network: [1]:

4 of them are a part of Saturn network: To 1 Moscow, 1 in Voronezh, 2 in Chelyabinsk. 1 more shop is under construction in Volgograd as a part of Akvarel shopping Center. Opening is planned for July, 2012.

History

  • 2006 — on December 2 opening of two shops in Moscow. On December 21 the same year the first Media Markt opens in St. Petersburg.
  • 2007 - in Russia Media Markt opens three more shops in St. Petersburg, on one in Rostov-on-Don and Samara. On December 6 in Moscow three shops Media Markt at the same time opened.
  • 2008 — opening of the sixth Media Markt in Moscow. Expansion of network in the Southern Federal District: entry into the market of Krasnodar and opening of the second shop in Rostov-on-Don.
  • 2009 — opening of the second Media Markt in Samara. There begin the work shops in Togliatti, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Kazan.
  • 2010 — opening of three shops in Moscow, two in Kazan and Voronezh, St. Petersburg, in Saratov and Naberezhnye Chelny.
  • 2011 — the first Media Markt shop in Novosibirsk[2]is open on April 28[3]. On August 25 the first Media Markt shop in Orenburg opened. On December 15 - in Cheboksary.
  • In June, 2018 the Safmar Group of the billionaire Mikhail Gutseriev buys control in the Russian network of home appliances and Media Markt electronics Russia. And the German company for €258 million purchases 15% in M.Video network. Within the transaction Safmar will receive the Russian retail network Media Markt. The size of the transaction can be reduced by the amount to €86 million if M.Video does not execute target indicators on the profit before tax (EBITDA) in 2018 and in 2019. The total volume of the transaction will be $470 million, reported to the edition the source close to the transaction. At transaction assessment the German Media-Saturn-Holding considered the market value of M.Video in $3.13 billion. The companies want to close the transaction no later than September of this year, and then Safmar can have 42.7% of M.Video (now the group has 57.7%). And in free circulation there will be 42.3% (taking into account the pension funds and other investors).
