SaaS is destiny of medium-sized companies

The companies of medium business will become primary clients of the developing cloud computing in the next 2-3 years, analysts believe. Those enterprises, whose annual volume of business is ranging from $250 million to $2 billion, have for this purpose a maximum of necessary forces and means.

According to the research of AMI company conducted among the company of small and medium business, more than 4.2 million companies are interested in deployment of the solutions provided according to the SaaS model.

About 12% of the companies of small business and 24% of the companies of medium business use SaaS, but the vast majority – 78% of small and 31% of medium-sized companies – use systems in the "traditional" (on-premises) option set at the client, or "hybrid" to SaaS model, and only about a third of the companies use the "blank" SaaS model.

According to results of a research, it is expected that SMB companies will accelerate the plans for acceptance of cloud computing and will execute transition from "traditional" to solutions "on demand" which market by 2014 will increase to 95 billion dollars. More than a half of SMB companies in the USA consider SaaS as the potential solution, at the same time every fifth company of small and medium business is going to use SaaS.

Cloud computing is assumed as the following IT platform, at the same time consideration of the SaaS model among SMB companies as the following most suitable economic IT model accelerated in connection with the current macroeconomic situation.

Besides, 77% of the small companies with the number of employees to 99 people and 84% of medium-sized companies with the number of employees more than 100 people even later since the beginning of economic downturn are still concerned two years by the current market conditions.

Also SMB companies being in failure to decide, especially concerning safety of the services rendered by the third-party companies. Such companies as Microsoft and IBM, try to solve the arising problems at SMB companies which combine "cloud" and "traditional" solutions.

In a research it is noted that e-mail and message exchange systems are one of key applications which in SMB companies will be started "upon the demand of" or using cloud computing. About 134 thousand SMB companies in the USA which is not using the SaaS model are going to use e-mail and systems on instant messaging which will create base for coexistence of the solutions placed on the host machine, online and "traditional" solutions that finally will lead to transition to "cloud" e-mail.

Besides, an online storage system and backup will help the companies of small and medium business to execute transition to "cloud computing". According to a research, 129 thousand SMB companies in the USA which is not using SaaS are going to use an online storage system and backup.

Also among the companies of small and medium business is a document management system and joint cooperation will promote increase in requirement in cloud and solutions SaaS.

Reduction of IT budgets in SMB companies allows solution providers to transfer clients among SMB companies from the "traditional" systems of Microsoft, SAP and IBM on other solutions, for example, provided according to the SaaS model.
