Appointment of IBM as the CEO

On January 30, 2020 IBM announced Arvind Krishna's appointment to the CEO's post together Ginny Rometti who directed IT corporation for 8 years.

Krishna will officially head IBM on April 6, 2020, and Rometti will remain the chief executive of Board of Directors of the company until the end of the year. 62-year-old Ginny Rometti also took a position of the president of the company, now it is given to the former head of Red Hat Jim Uaytkherst.

Before heading IBM, Arvind Krishna directed in the company division which develops cloud services and the cognitive software. He was among the top managers who are responsible for the transaction on merger of Red Hat.

Besides, as the analyst of Moor Insights & Strategy Patrick Moorhead speaks, Arvind Krishna was responsible for development of "initiatives of IBM of new generation", including for projects in the field of a blockchain and quantum computings.

The analyst of Pund-IT Charles King considers Krishna the logical candidate for a post of the CEO of IBM, considering importance of cloud computing for the future of the company.

The analyst of Wedbush Securities company Moshe Katri called Arvind Krishna's appointment "long-awaited, but overdue replacement of the leadership", having added that at Rometti IBM "endured a painful, slow transient period to correspond to a new technology landscape".

Under the leadership of Rometti who was appointed the CEO in 2012 IBM purchased 65 companies, re-structured more than a half of a portfolio of the assets, built cloud business of $21 billion and strengthened the positions in the field of artificial intelligence, quantum computings and a blockchain.

Doubts in a possibility of Russia to create the quantum computer
