Biography

2012: Participation in the creation of Yota

In a prospectus sent to Megafon investors on November 16, 2012 during the road show, the company first spoke in detail about its owners. It turned out that 3.37% of its capital is indirectly owned by Albert Avdolyan. It accounts for 50% of Telconet, which owns 13.5% of Garsdale, the largest shareholder of Megafon (50% plus 1 share).

Garsdale Holding was created in the summer of 2012 - a controlling stake in Megafon and 100% of Skartel, operating under the Yota brand, were transferred to it. The owners of these assets received shares in Garsdale:

  • USM Holding Alisher Usmanov - 82%,
  • another 4.5% belongs to Rostechnology,
  • the third owner is Telconet. Until 16 yjz, hz 2012 ujlf was known only about one of the partners in Telconet - Sergey Adonyev.

Although, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, at the time of the registration of Scartel LLC in early 2007, Denis Sverdlov (the former general director of Yota, and in 2012-2013 - the deputy minister of communications) was the first owner of the company, it was Adonyev who was still considered the main creator of the Yota project. In a 2011 interview with Kommersant, Sergei Chemezov said that Adonyev "controls" 75% of Skartel through the Telconet fund, being the managing shareholder.

Very little was known about Avdolyan until now. Forbes wrote that he participated in the registration of Yota along with Sverdlov and Adonyev. In addition, he was mentioned as the creator of Expatel, one of the contractors for the construction of WiMax networks for the Yota project and the Megafon contractor. Vedomosti failed to find Avdolyan through Expatel. He stood at the origins of Expatel, but now he has no relation to the company, says his good acquaintance Denis Sverdlov. A survey of businessmen associated with the mentioned companies and their projects did not add significant information to Vedomosti. "Albert Avdolyan is a long-time partner of Sergei Adonyev, although the latter has always been key in their tandem and negotiated," says their mutual acquaintance. - But Avdolyan was never a nominal shareholder, he, like Adonyev, invested his money, they simultaneously became shareholders of Yota. One of Yota's former employees confirms this version and recalls that earlier Avdolyan often appeared in the company's office, attended all Yota public events.

"He is a very good person," says Sverdlov, but does not tell what he is doing. The same characteristic is given by Avdolyan and another of his acquaintances - the founder of the Solvers company (advised Megafon and Alisher Usmanov on a number of transactions) Oleg Malis. And another person close to Megafon shareholders added that Avdolyan is "a very rich person."

However, the sources of this wealth are not reported. It is known from a publicly available Wikipedia article that in 1999 Avdolyan acquired a 15% stake in the chemical company Usolehimprom, and since 2003 he has also been a co-owner of the equipment production company Gazkuptservice, a subsidiary of Gazprom. The viability of this person is indirectly evidenced by his recent contribution to the victims of the tragedy in Krymsk: according to the Red Cross, published in Forbes, he donated 5 million rubles.

Albert Avdolyan is a person from the entourage of Rostechnology CEO Sergei Chemezov, close to the Rosvooruzhenie holding (in November 2012 it is Rostekhnologii), says a friend of the entrepreneur. The representative of Rostechnology did not comment on this. The manager of one of the telecommunications companies - a partner of Megafon and a source well known to both Adonyev and Sverdlov, suggest that Avdolyan may be the "nominal holder" of a stake in the business[1]

According to him, the room can be fully personalized in accordance with the customer's preferences. For example, the client can independently choose the appropriate layout, trim options, create a club or conference room, an entertainment room on board. The cost of Global 7500 starts at $73 million, but the final price depends on the interior decoration, Petrochenko said.

It's not Avdolyan's only jet. Its air fleet also has the Bombardier Global 6000 by July 2021. The cost of the new jet of this model starts at $60 million. However, in the secondary market, their prices are lower. So, a 2018 aircraft can be purchased for $35.9 million, and 2012 - for $17.5 million.

Forbes estimates Avdolyan's fortune at $1 billion, the magazine placed him in 115th place in the ranking of Russian billionaires in 2021.[2]
