Boris Abramovich Berezovsky (1946-2013) is the Russian entrepreneur and the political figure.

Biography

Was born on January 23, 1946 in Moscow, Russia.

1967: Scientific activity

1967 - graduated from faculty of electronics and computing equipment of the Moscow timber institute.

For 1968-1969 - worked as the engineer in scientific research institute of test machines, devices and measuring instruments of mass of the Ministry of instrument making of the USSR.

  • worked with 1969-1970 in the Hydrometeorological Centre of the USSR.

1970-1987 - the engineer, then the associate and senior research associate, the head of the laboratory at Institute of problems of management of Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

1973 – graduated from the MSU Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. Also completed postgraduate studies at Institute of problems of management of Academy of Sciences of the USSR where defended the master's thesis on the subject "Multicriteria Optimization".

1983 - defended the doctoral dissertation on the subject "Development of Theoretical Bases of Algorithmization of Adoption of Preproject Solutions and Their Application" in "An engineering cybernetics and an information theory". Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences.

1989: Business career

1989 - founded LogoVAZ - the company which was engaged in car sale VAZ, withdrawn from foreign car showrooms of JSC AvtoVAZ. In 1991 the LogoVAZ company received the status of the official importer of Mercedes-Benz cars in the USSR.

1991 - the corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the member of the International scientific organization according to the theory of decision making, the founder of the International scientific fund.

1992 - the chairman of the board of directors of the First United bank.

1994-1997 - the All-Russian Automobile Alliance (AVVA) created for fund raising on construction of the plant on release of cheap "national cars"[1] headed].

On June 7, 1994 on Novokuznetskaya Street in Moscow near building number 40 in which the house of acceptances of LogoVAZ was located explosion when the machine of the businessman Boris Berezovsky left gate took place.

As a result of explosion the driver of the car died, the security guard and 8 passersby are wounded.

According to the investigators, as the organizer of crime the famous Moscow criminal leader, the leader of the Orekhovo criminal grouping Sergey Timofeev known as Sylvester which in September of the same year was blown up in the car on 3rd Tverskoy-Yamskaya Street acted. Timofeev's murder remained unsolved.

1995 - participated in creation of Public Russian television and joined ORT the board.

1995 - the shareholder of Moscow independent broadcasting corporation (TV-6).

1996: Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation

1996 - the board member of Siberian Oil Company (Sibneft).

May, 1997 - with its direct participation was signed the peace treaty between the Russian Federation and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.

1998 - developed the concept of reforming of the CIS which was cancelled after his resignation.

1998-1999 - the executive secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

1999 - purchased Kommersant Publishing House.

1999 - the initiator and the ideologist of creation of the pre-election Unity block which won the Russian Federation State Duma elections.

1999-2000 - the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from Karachay-Cherkessia (refused the mandate on own initiative).

2000 - the co-owner of newspapers (Kommersant, "The Moscow member of the Komsomol", Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Novye Izvestia, "Fresh number"), magazines (Auto pilot, Vlast, Money, Hammer, Brownie, the Ogoniok), Our Radio radio stations, ORT TV companies (Channel One) and MHBK (TV-6).

2000 - actively participated in a campaign for Vladimir Putin's election as the Russian President. According to Boris Berezovsky's statements, he played a crucial role in Vladimir Putin's arrival to the power at the end of 1999[2] and promoted Putin's appointment the director of FSB [3].

2000 - in disagreement with Vladimir Putin's policy refused the deputy mandate of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

2001 - set up in New York "Foundation of civil liberties" for support of democratic reforms in the former Soviet Union.

2003: Emigration to Britain

2003 - was granted a political asylum in Britain.

In due time Boris Berezovsky wrote all talk. He formed huge archive of wiretaps. When he left the country, thought that to have a rest with girls for a while. And it appeared forever. 11 criminal cases in Russia

On Boris Berezovsky six attempts and attempts of attempts were made. The last attempt was made in June, 2007 in London. As a result of one of attempts the driver died, the security guard was seriously injured, Berezovsky got burns. Any of attempts was not opened.

The Russian State Office of Public Prosecutor during the period since 1997 brought 11 criminal cases against Berezovsky. In particular, he was accused under the article "forcible seizure of power or violent deduction of the power".

The Russian Federation repeatedly demanded his extradition both from Great Britain, and from Latvia. Boris Berezovsky has the passport addressed to Platon Elenin.

Boris Berezovsky in Russia is in absentia found guilty of fraud and legalization of the money purchased in the criminal way at signing of the contract on delivery of a large batch of cars between JSC AvtoVAZ and LogoVAZ company and is sentenced to imprisonment for 13 years.

2010 - accused Vladimir Putin of Vladislav Listyev's murder (1995), "though why at that time the First Deputy Prime Minister of St. Petersburg needed murder of the journalist,[4] did not explain"[4].

Capital assets of Boris Berezovsky during this period were concentrated in:

  • food industry (company of the food industry of the countries of the former Yugoslavia, Ukraine and Georgia),
  • telekonikation and communication (Georgian Magti cellular operator),
  • sport (Brazilian football club Corinthians)[5].

Berezovsky takes the 136th place in the rating of the Russian-language version of Forbes "The richest businessmen of Russia - 2011". Boris Berezovsky's fortune is estimated in 700 million dollars[6].

2012 - announced the decision to create a new party on the basis of Christian and democratic values[7]. On April 15, 2012 - Boris Berezovsky in the blog in LJ and on the page on Facebook announced the Movements of Revival establishment, in 10 points having stated the program of radical liberalization of Russia and establishment of constitutional monarchy[8].

2012 - suggested to set constitutional monarchy in Russia and as the possible candidate for the Russian throne offers the British prince Harry, the younger son of the prince of Wales Charles[9].

Author more than 100 scientific works and number of monographs:

  • 1981 - "The binary relations in multicriteria optimization",
  • 1984 - "A problem of the best choice",
  • 1989 - "Multicriteria optimization: mathematical aspects" and others.

Separate works are published in the USA, England, Japan, Germany and France.

Numerous performances, articles and Boris Berezovsky's interview are united in the three-volume edition "Art of Impossible" and also in books "My Maidan Nezalezhnosti" and "Verdikt".

Charity

1992 - created the first private independent charitable foundation "Triumf" in support of the Russian culture.

Awards and awards

It is awarded the order International to Saint Constantine the Great.

Family

It is divorced, six children.

Boris Berezovsky was married three times. At him remained six children and six grandsons.

With the first wife, Nina Korotkova, Berezovsky got acquainted in 1967 when he finished training at faculty of electronics and the computing equipment of the Moscow timber institute. Nina Korotkova studied at the same institute, two rates is younger.

In a year when Berezovsky was 22 years old, they got married.

In 1971 the daughter Elizabeth was born, she graduated from faculty of arts in Cambridge, the artist, lives in London.

In 1973 at Berezovsky and Korotkova the daughter [Berezovskaya Ekaterina Borisovna|Ekaterina] was born].

On September 27, 1991 Boris Berezovsky and Nina Korotkova divorced.

Defects with Galina Besharova — the second for the businessman. Galina is an economist by training. Berezovsky and Besharova got acquainted in Moscow in 1981 during its work on a mekhmata of MSU. In 1989 at pair the son Artem, and in the 1992nd — the daughter Anastasia was born.

In 1993 Galina went to London. The most part of time they lived separately.

In 2008 Besharova filed documents for a divorce.

According to media, Berezovsky paid to the former spouse as compensation at a divorce from 165 to 220 million pounds sterling (from 260 to 360 million dollars).

Compensation for Besharova included cash, capital stock and also a penthouse in the prestigious multi-storey house in London, near the Kensington palace and the gardens[11] of the same name[11].

Elena Gorbunova was the third spouse of Berezovsky. The relations with Gorbunova began in the 1990s. At pair two children, the daughter Arina (1996 year of birth) and the son Gleb (1997 year of birth). Elena Gorbunova and Boris Berezovsky lived in de facto marriage about 20 years. When Berezovsky moved to England in 2001, Gorbunova arrived with him, and the British press quite often called her him the wife. What was legally incorrect because Berezovsky very long did not get divorced from official wife Galina of that time.

On legal procedure against Roman Abramovich in August, 2012 Gorbunova supported the spouse in spite of the fact that, according to messages of the press, the relations between them were broken off in 2012.
