As it became known on November 4, 2019, Arkady Dvorkovich was named one of the applicants for the post of rector of Moscow State University. According to the forecast of political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky, former deputy prime minister of the Russian government Arkady Dvorkovich, who holds the post of president of FIDE, has a serious chance of obtaining the post of rector of Moscow State University.

File:Aquote1.png
I am positive about Dvorkovich's candidacy for the post of rector of Moscow State University. I believe that the time [of the current rector Viktor] Sadovnichy is over. He was 80 years old. Under him, Moscow State University lost the authority and reputation that it had before. Well, at 80, you can already leave. I have always been a supporter of the fact that a person whose capabilities correspond to his ambitions should lead an institution. And Arkady Vladimirovich Dvorkovich, of course, corresponds to this, "the expert noted.[2]

"Skolkovo" has always been at the forefront of innovation in Russia  and today, I am sure, will make every effort to build its own competitive economy in our country, becoming the main technological hub that will take over the provision of the country's technological needs, "he said.

Two RBC sources close to the Skolkovo Foundation said that Igor Drozdov, who by March 18, 2022 is the chairman of the Skolkovo board, could take his place.

After Dvorkovich advocated a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, the secretary of the United Russia General Council Andrey Turchak said that the party was in favor of "his immediate dismissal with shame" from the post of chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation. According to Turchak, the statement of the chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation on a special operation in Ukraine is a "national betrayal."
