Andrey Aleksandrovich Fursenko (on July 17, 1949, Leningrad, the USSR) — Since May, 2012 the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation. From 2004 to 2012 - the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Education

In 1971 graduated from the Leningrad state university of A.A. Zhdanov. Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences.

Career

In 1971 — 1991 — the trainee-researcher, the junior researcher, the head of the laboratory, the associate director on scientific work, the leading researcher of Physics and technology institute of A.F. Ioffe of Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Leningrad. The specialist in the field of computing physics.

In 1991 — 1993 — the vice president of JSC Centre perspektivnykh tekhnology i razrabotok, St. Petersburg. Yury Kovalchuk was his immediate superior.

In 1994 — 2001 — the CEO of Regional fund of scientific and technical development of St. Petersburg. With its active participation more than 80 hi-tech projects to which financing it was succeeded to attract about 13 million dollars were implemented. In 1995 entered Our Home-Russia a party

State activity

Since May 12, 2008 — again the Minister of Education and Science in V.V. Putin's government.

During his being the first deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and Science of Russia in the federal budget (for 2003) the line "Financing of Scientific Support of the Major Innovation Projects of the State Value" for the first time appeared. The ministry in the course of reforming of a system of domestic education implements the Priority national Education project (A. Fursenko is a member of council under the President of the Russian Federation on implementation of priority national projects and population policy). In days of its management of the industry there are changes in process of integration of science and the higher school. A.A. Fursenko as the minister supports promotion of Russia in Bologna Process. [4] Supporter of reforming of the Russian Academy of Sciences, transfer of a part of her employees to commercial contracts.

In May, 2012 was not a part of the new Government of the Russian Federation. It is appointed the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation.
