Biography

Sergey Borisovich Ivanov was born on January 31, 1953 in Leningrad.

In 1975 graduated from translation department of philological faculty of the Leningrad state university.

Since March 28, 2001 Sergei Ivanov works in the Government of the Russian Federation. From 2001 to 2005 – as the Minister of Defence. Since November 14, 2005 combined the minister's post with a position of the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, and on February 16, 2007 became the First Deputy Prime Minister.

On December 22, 2011 Sergei Ivanov is appointed the head of Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.

In March, 2015 on a post of the head of Board of Directors of Rostelecom will put forward the head of the Russian President Administration Sergei Ivanov,[1] confirmed] Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov [2] to Rain. According to experts, the official will be engaged in privatization of the company[3].

According to Peskov, Rostelecom is "a large state asset" and thus "the state shows that significance which attaches it". Also he noted that in crisis time of the company need state support and presence of the official at the head of the Council of directors of Rostelecom will simplify process of interaction of the operator with the authorities.

In June, 2015 the Board of Directors of Rostelecom agreed to elect the chairman Chief of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergei Ivanov to a post. About it [4][5] the president of the company Sergey Kalugin reported.

In August, 2016 the President of Russia Vladimir Putin appointed Anton Vaino the Kremlin Chief of Staff. Sergei Ivanov held a post of the special representative of the President concerning nature protection activity.

The post of the head of Board of Directors of Rostelecom will remain for Sergei Ivanov who in 2017 holds a position of the special representative of the President of Russia concerning nature protection activity, ecology and transport. Thus, the former head of Presidential Administration will head Board of Directors of the operator the third year in a row, Vedomosti reports. According to the edition, the government directive on its election is already sent to the board members representing the interests of the state.
