Korniyenko Gennady Aleksandrovich is the Russian statesman, the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service. Former head of the State Courier Service of the Russian Federation.

Biography

Was born on September 30, 1954 in the settlement of Lahdenpohja, the Karelian SSR, the USSR.

Got the higher technical and higher vocational education.

1981: Service in KGB

Since 1981 - on service in KGB of the USSR, then FSB of the Russian Federation.

2001 - 2002 - the associate director of Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation[2].

2002: Director of the State Courier Service

2002 - it is appointed the director of the State Courier Service of the Russian Federation[3].

2012: Director of FPS

June 25, 2012 - [4] is appointed by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 886 the Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service].

2012 - took part as the representative of public authorities in the II St. Petersburg International Legal Forum[5].

Member of the board of trustees of the joint hockey club Dynamo Moscow Popechitelsky sovet[6].

The pre-trial detention center under construction on 4000 places to Kolpino (New Crosses) became the first object which was visited by Gennady Korniyenko as the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service[7].

Gennady Korniyenko was considered "the next alien" in FPS -[8] by the person very far from specifics of work of department].

In July, 2018 Novaya Gazeta initiated scandal with beating of the prisoner in the Yaroslavl colony. The question was taken out on the level of Committee on tortures of the UN.

On September 30, 2019 it is dismissed by the President of Russia V. Putin.

The resignation was written more than a month ago.

At the same time forced to activate signing of the Decree of the President scandal with leakage of a complete data packet from FPS about being in prison the major Stepanov whom NYT called the murderer in Berlin the Chechen field commander Zelimkhan Hangoshvili.

It is awarded the state awards, including, awarded with a medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the I degree in 2006[9].
