Merkushkin Nikolay Ivanovich

Merkushkin Nikolay Ivanovich is the ex-governor of the Samara region (it is chosen for the term of 12 May of 2012 till May 12, 2017).

Governor of Mordovia (from September 22, 1995 to May 10, 2012).

Biography

Was born on February 5, 1951 in the village New Verkhissa of Insarsky district of the Republic of Mordovia.

1973 - with honors graduated from the Mordovian state university of N.P. Ogarev as "An engineer of the electronic equipment".

1968 - began a labor activity the machine operator in collective farm. In student's years it was elected the secretary of committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League of the Mordovian State University.

1977 - the secretary of the Mordovian regional committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League.

1979 - the second secretary of the Mordovian regional committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League.

1982 - 1986 - the first secretary of the Mordovian regional committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League.

1986 - it is elected the first secretary of the Tengushevsky district committee of the CPSU.

1990 - it is elected the chairman of regional council of People's Deputies.

1990 - it is elected the second secretary of the Mordovian reskom of the Communist Party of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.

October, 1990 - the ASSR ran for the chairman of the Supreme Council Mordovian.

Then ran for presidency of the Republic of Mordovia, but there did not take place the first round of elections.

1991 - the chairman Fonda of state property Mordovian the ASSR.

1993 - the cochairman of the Mordovian republican economic union, the cochairman of the Moscow economic union.

June, 1993 - moved forward on a post of the chairman of the board of Ministers of Mordovia, but recalled the candidate later.

September, 1993 - rejected the offer to become the Russian President's representative in the Republic of Mordovia.

November, 1993 - stood for the Federation Council on the two-mandatory district, having taken the 3rd place from 12 (received 77450 votes of the voted voters).

On November 27, 1994 - it is elected the deputy of the State Meeting of the Republic of Mordovia on the 37th district.

1995: Governor of the Republic of Mordovia

On January 24, 1995 - it is elected the chairman of the State Meeting of the Republic of Mordovia, in September of the same year became the head of the region.

1996 - in January was a part of the Federation Council of the 2nd convocation.

1998 - won a victory on elections and for the second time became the head of the region.

1998 - the president of interregional association "Big Volga".

2003 - for the third time won elections on a region post of the head. According to lists of a batch United Russia went to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, but refused the mandate.

2005 - The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin submitted his candidate for consideration in the State meeting of the Republic of Mordovia.

On November 10, 2005 - on representation of the Russian President for the third time it is elected the State Meeting of the Republic of Mordovia to a position of the Governor of Mordovia.

On October 2, 2010 - the president Russia Dmitry Medvedev proposed Nikolay Merkushkin's candidacy for a region post of the head for the next term.

October 7, 2010 - The state Meeting of the Republic of Mordovia gave to Nikolay Merkushkin authority of the head of the region for the fifth term.

On November 10, 2010 - entered a position.

2012: Governor of the Samara region

On May 10, 2012 - the acting the governor of the Samara region is appointed.

May 12, 2012 - The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin introduced to the Samara Provincial Duma Nikolay Merkushkin's candidacy for granting of power to the Governor of the Samara region.

May 12, 2012 - The Samara Provincial thought approved Nikolay Merkushkin on a post of the Governor of the Samara region.

2017: Resignation from a post of the governor of the Samara region

In September, 2017 the president Russia Vladimir Putin accepted Nikolay Merkushkin's resignation from a post of the governor of the Samara region. Also the president appointed Merkushkin the special representative of the head of state on interaction with the World congress of the Finno-Ugric people.

Public activity

On June 6, 2012 - participated in the festive event devoted to Day of the social worker^[1].

On September 8, 2012 - took part in opening of a sculpture "The lady with a racket" in Samara on the occasion of century anniversary of tennis in the region. The first courts in Samara in 1912 appeared in the territory of modern Pushkinsky Square. The Samara federation of tennis decided to immortalize 100-year anniversary of this event and there was with an initiative of installation in the square of sculptural composition "A lady with a racket"^[2].

On October 24, 2012 - participated in the festive events devoted to the 140 anniversary of central post office of Samara^[3].

On January 9, 2013 - participated in a traditional gala Christmas concert. The festive event was held at the academic opera and ballet theater^[4].

On February 2, 2013 - participated in the actions devoted to Day of military glory of Russia "Day of defeat by the Soviet troops of fascist troops in the Battle of Stalingrad"^[5].

On April 27, 2013 - "The national WorldSkills Russia-2013 championship", in Togliatti in USK "Olympus"^[6] participated in a ceremony of opening of the first All-Russian tender of professional skill^[6].

On April 27, 2013 - took part in opening of a memorial plate to the honourable citizen Valery Ivanov (the journalist, the founder of the Tolyattinskoye Obozreniye newspaper, the deputy of City Council who was killed in the yard of own house 11 years ago)^[7].

2000 - An order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 4th Class - for a big contribution to social and economic development of the region and long-term honest work.

2000 - Award of the Saint grand duke Vladimir II equal to the apostles of degree.

2001 there is a rank "Person of Year" for progress in development of economy.

2002 - Order of St. Sergius of Radonezh 2 class.

2002 there is a rank "Person of Year" among seven best governors of Russia, called the Russian biographic institute.

2003 - the winner of the National award of Pyotr Stolypin "Agrarian elite of Russia" in the "For Effective Social Policy in the Village" nomination.

On March 4, 2003 - the military rank - the colonel is given.

2004 - Peter the Great's award of the I degree.

2006 - Order of St. Sergius of Radonezh 1 class.

September 30, 2009 - Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 3rd Class.

2011 - Order of Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow 1 class.

Hobbies

Is fond of billiards, chess, soccer, volleyball.

Loves the Russian national songs.

Is a fan of the great Mordovian sculptor Stepan Erzi.

He is married, two sons.
