Biography

Was born on May 1, 1960 in the settlement of Kulashi, Samtredsky district, the Georgian SSR.

Graduated from the Leningrad pediatric institute (The St. Petersburg state pediatric medical academy).

The 1980th - the owner of large shopping center of St. Petersburg Gostiny Dvor, the co-owner of Russian Video company.

2001-2009: Arrest and maximum security penal colony

On January 23, 2001 - it is arrested and accused by prosecutor's office of kidnapping of two natives of Georgia.

In 2003 it is sentenced in district court of the Leningrad Military District to 12 years of imprisonment with serving sentence in maximum security penal colony[7].

In 2007 Mirilashvili addressed with the complaint to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, and in 2008 its complaint was satisfied. On January 22, 2009 Mirilashvili was released[1].

2011-2013: Purchase and sale of a packet in VKontakte social network

2011 - won the tender for design of a lobby of the Admiralty metro station on Malaya Morskaya Street and the shopping complex over it.

2011 - [8] purchased a share of social network "VKontakte"[8].

On April 17, 2013 it became known that the United Capital Partners (UCP) fund acquired 48% of shares of VKontake, reported CNews in fund. 40% of shares were sold by the co-founder of network Vyacheslav Mirilashvili and his father, Mikhail Mirilashvili. Another 8% were sold by the chief executive of VKontakte Lev of Levi.

Thus, UCP became the largest shareholder of VKontakte. 40% of stocks of network belong to Mail.ru Group holding, 12% - to the CEO of VKontakte Pavel Durov. At the same time Durov manages as well add Mail.ru Group.

Transaction amount does not reveal. The last transaction which was carried out by Mail.ru Group with stocks of VKontakte took place in the summer of 2011. Then all network was estimated at $1.4 billion. Proceeding from this assessment the amount of the present transaction could be about $700 million.

The shareholders' agreement of VKontakte provided the preferential right of the existing shareholders to the redemption of shares in the company, CNews told a source among shareholders. The notification on the forthcoming transaction to shareholders was not sent, but it will be difficult to dispute sale all the same, the interlocutor of CNews says: most likely, shares in VKontakte were on sale not directly, and together with the relevant offshores[9].

Social and political activity

On February 11, 2009 - headed the St. Petersburg office of Russian Jewish Congress[10].

2010 - became the chairman of Popechitelny council of ZAKA - the Israeli voluntary organization for search and rescue of victims in terrorist attacks, accidents and natural cataclysms[11].

2010 – financed creation of special "tractor crew" of the humanitarian volunteer organization "ZAKA" for fire fighting in the hardly accessible area[12].

2012 - finances the project on expansion of a system of the Jewish education in the countries of the former USSR[13].

Mikhail Mirilashvili actively does charity work. At the beginning of a year he was elected the chairman of the board of trustees of the international[16].

Offered money in "Agud lemaan ha-hayal" (association in support of the military personnel) and also bought 1 million piles for distribution visiting the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem[17].

2010 - made donation in the amount of 1,000,000 dollars in support of the Israeli educational[18].
