Samuel J. Palmisano is the ex-managing director of the American corporation IBM and the chairman of its Board of Directors till October 1, 2012.

Biography

Was born on July 29, 1951. Received the bachelor's degree at John Hopkins's University.

In 1973 Palmisano began to work in IBM at once after the termination of the university.

In 1997 it was selected to the vice president's position.

Palmisano became the chairman of the board of directors of IBM in October, 2002, and since March, 2002 was appointed the managing director (CEO).

The annual wage of Palmisano made $1.8 million in 2008. As a bonus for a year Palmisano received $5.8 million.

Palmisano was recognized that IBM owns two islands in virtual reality of Second Life, and he in it has even two "embodiments".

Till October 1, 2012 Samjuel Palmisano held a post of the chairman of the board of directors of IBM.

In the middle of February, 2016 the U.S. President Barack Obama appointed Palmisano one of heads of the government commission on strengthening of national cyber security (Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity). Read more here.

He is married to Missie Palmisano and has four children. Lives in the city of Sausport, Connecticut (USA).
