Biography

Was born on March 12, 1970 in Tashkent in family of scientists.[1]

Graduated from external comprehensive school in Vladivostok. In 15 years entered MIPT on faculty of radio engineering and cybernetics.

In 1993 graduated from the university with the diploma of the engineer-physicist. The same year came to a postgraduate study of MIPT, later defended the master's thesis.[2]

In 1993 Stanislav began to work as the research associate in one of scientific research institute in structure of MIET.[3] During this period of the beginnings actively[4] to program[5].

In 1996 Stanislav Protasov as the technical specialist of Standard & Western Software IT company moved to Singapore. Soon the company became the partner distributor of ERP systems of Solomon Software in Southeast Asia.[6] In the further ambassador of a chain of absorption the company was sold to Microsoft and renamed into Microsoft Dynamics.[7]

In 2000 Protasov jointly with acquaintances on study in MIPT organized SWsoft company. The company under its management opened in MIPT R&D-центр and began to work on own products.[8] The same year it headed the project on creation of ASPLinux, the version of Linux OS which was released in three editions and was on sale in ten countries.[2] During this period in the company the innovative container technology of virtualization was developed. Today it is a basis of cloud infrastructure and is used by not less than 10 million servers worldwide. Its codes are partially used by such companies as Google and also in popular Linux developments.[9] Stanislav Protasov is a coauthor of container technology.

In 2003 one most successful products SWsoft  — software for a backup without the need for reset of a system  — was selected in separate business which called Acronis.[10]

In 2007, after purchase of several successful competitors, the SWsoft company was renamed into Parallels. The company became one of global leaders in the market. Later under the influence of Stanislav Protasov's work educational laboratories Parallels in five leading universities of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk were open.[11]

In 2012 under the leadership of Stanislav Protasov Parallels was among the most active kontributor of a kernel of Linux, on an equal basis with Google, AMD, Cisco and HP.[12][13]

In the summer of 2013 Stanislav became the senior vice president of Acronis company.[14][15] Stanislav is responsible for all technical part of business, development of a product line, including release of new products and updates.[16] with Acronis one of market leaders of solutions of backup and data recovery Now.

In 2014 and 2015 the Acronis company under the leadership of Stanislav Protasov became the winner of Runet Prize in the Technologies and Innovations nomination.[17][18]

In 2015 under the leadership of Stanislav the Acronis company was included into 20 largest suppliers of cloud data storage according to[19] The same year one of the large  Parallels — Odin directions  — the Ingram Micro corporation which the Chinese company HNA Group for $ 6 billion[20] soon purchased [21] purchased]

Since 2015[22] and in expert advice of "Institute of Development of the Internet" enters into expert club "Runet Prizes".[23]

In the spring of 2016 Stanislav Protasov became the head of committee "IT + Sovereignty" of the Institute of Development of the Internet (IDI). "IT + Sovereignty" is included into tasks of committee preparation of initiatives and formation of a position of IRI relating to regulation of the IT industry, intra-branch dialog and government relations. One of the main areas of work of committee - support of domestic software developers and producers of the IT equipment. The committee "IT + Sovereignty" closely interacts with the Expert advice of IRI integrating leading specialists of the Russian industry of IT.
