Biography

Since 2000 Shekar Ayyar works at the highest executive positions in the field of the corporate software, information support and semiconductors.

Cooperated with McKinsey as the consultant.

Ayar held executive positions in Lucent Technologies companies (was a part of Nokia later), BindView (which was purchased by Symantec company) and Instantis (which in 2012 was absorbed by Oracle) where he was responsible for product management, marketing and business development.

Passed later into VMware company where on the head's post on strategy and corporate development was responsible for approval of strategy of different divisions of VMware, management of merges and absorption and also for the strategic investments. Under its management VMware made several important acquisitions, including Nicira companies (in 2012) and AirWatch (in 2014) and also became the leading supplier of infrastructure for virtualization of network functions.

On November 29, 2016 it was announced that VMware appointed Shekar Ayar the executive vice president and the chief manager of group of telecommunications. Mr. Ayar began to direct promotion of the solution Cross-Cloud Architecture and software-defined infrastructure in the international supplier companies of communication services and telecommunications.

For 2016 in the world there are more than 400 communication service providers and telecommunication operators. The leading service providers from the different countries of the world implemented already more than 80 NFV solutions on the VMware platform as directly, and using suppliers of network equipment or vendors of the virtualized network functions. The VMware company certified already 24 virtualized network functions from 20 vendors within the VMware Ready for NFV program, and still a number of solutions will be in the long term certified.

Besides, the VMware company announced Shekar Ayar's appointment to a position of the executive vice president and the chief manager of group of telecommunications.

From now on Ayar directly reports to the chief executive officer of the company Peta Gelsingera. Besides, he still directs the direction of strategic and corporate development of VMware.
