Biography

1981

Rometti works in IBM company since 1981, its first position - the system engineer and so to the head of the direction of international sales where she was responsible for sales of products and services of corporation in 170 markets.

2011

In October, 2011 54-year-old Vidzhiniya Rometti became the first IBM, female-headed for all history. On the first year of government of Rometti published the aggressive five-year development strategy of the company according to which, involving "hot" analytics areas and cloud computing, IBM should reach the share value of the company of 20 dollars by 2015.

2014

In 2014 the chief executive of IBM Ginny Rometti announced that the company refuses long-term a promise to reach $20 for an action by 2015.

However heads of the company made the new plan: IBM will invest $4 billion to achieve $40 billion income in such areas as cloud storage these, mobile applications, by 2018.

According to this plan, revenues of the company should grow practically twice in comparison with the level of income for 2015 in spite of the fact that it means leaving from strategy to which the company adhered decades.

The main objective of Rometti – to save the company in which 380 thousand people are employed, profitable and significant during the long time frame even if it means leaving from fundamental bases in the strategy of the company.

2017

Disagreement with the Trump's position

At the beginning of June, 2017 Ginny Rometti expressed disagreement with the president's position USA Donald Trump in an environmental issue. Despite it the head IBM will remain the adviser to the head of state.

Ginny Rometti joined heads of the large American companies dissatisfied with the Trump's decision on an exit of Washington from the Parisian agreement on climate. The president explained this step with the fact that the agreement was "extremely dishonest" in relation to the USA, could cause damage to the economic interests of the country which it puts on the first place, and would enrich other states.

In protest at the Trump's actions on a country output from the Parisian agreement on climate several heads of the American companies which in 2016 were among the business leaders advising the U.S. President elected then left this team. Among them — the founder of Tesla Motors Elon Musk and the president of The Walt Disney Robert Iger. Ginny Rometti supported those who condemned the Trump's solution, however she did not leave the list of consultants of the president after Musk and Iger.

IBM supports participation of the USA in the Parisian agreement and is going to continue the ten years' work on reduction of own emissions of greenhouse gases and will still help our clients with it — the CEO of IT corporation said.

According to her, IBM believes in expediency of interaction with the White House and that the company will be able to make a constructive contribution as a result of direct dialog with Presidential Administration just as IBM established relations with the governments of other countries.

It is necessary to tell that not only Rometti remained the Trump's consultant, despite negative assessment of actions of the American leader in relation to an environmental issue. The same was made by heads of General Motors carmaker, Clevelend clinic (large private medical center), retail network Wal-Mart Stores and BlackRock investment company.[1]
