2019: Announcement of Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform of series 5000

On October 10, 2019 the Hitachi Vantara company submitted the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) platform of series 5000 and program system of management of Hitachi Ops Center.

According to the company, for October, 2019 these solutions have high high-speed performance. Sharing of solutions accelerates processing of workloads in the data processing center (DPC) and also allows to receive information systems with architecture which is a basis for upgrade of DPC, cloud environments and Wednesdays based on DataOps.

The Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform platform of series 5000 represents the array of flash drives of a corporate class optimized for use of all advantages of architecture of SAS, modules of memory of NVMe and memory of the class Storage Class Memory (SCM). The array of flash drives based on a non-volatile memory using Hitachi Accelerated Fabric technology has high-speed performance for October, 2019 up to 21 million input-output operations per second (IOPS). One more advantage – considerable reduction of response time which is only 70 microseconds now. Thanks to Hitachi Dedupe Optimizer the platform optimizes duplication elimination process that allows to balance inline and post-process deduplication and also as much as possible to reduce amounts of data at the minimum influence on performance. All this gives the chance to quicker take the valuable analytical data and to receive necessary results. In addition, architecture of input-output with automatic protection and quadruple reservation of a matrix provide data availability indicators – 99.999999%.

Hitachi Ops Center involves in infrastructure management and operation of artificial intelligence technology (AI) that allows to improve decision making processes and to upgrade selection of resources, having provided the maximum profitability of investments.

Customers can receive at once benefits from the existing storage infrastructure, using the VSP 5000 model for virtualization of the available systems; it allows to reduce total cost of ownership by 20%. Virtualization using VSP of series 5000 provides availability of all services of data to older systems.

The packet of VSP Cloud Connect Pack allows to add to infrastructure the gateway of file storage HNAS 4000 for data movement to a public cloud and release of additional capacity of DPC. The data moved to a public cloud are supplemented with metadata that provides a possibility of their indexing and search.

Expands possibilities of VSP of series 5000 operating system Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System (SVOS), the optimized for use of horizontally scalable architecture, a high-performance non-volatile memory and carriers of the next generation, such as SCM. She turns on means of analytics based on AI and is capable to adapt to change of operating conditions that provides optimization of service of any workloads, reducing costs for data storage and a possibility of forecasting of malfunctions which can lead to failures in work.

The VSP platform of series 5000 – for October, 2019 the only DWH in the industry providing a possibility of a flexible combination of the NVMe and SAS flash drives in an array of one system for the purpose of cost optimization and performance for all types of workloads. The mechanism of intellectual data movement on levels of storage uses AI technology and machine learning for dynamic data movement up or down on optimum level, accelerating operation of applications.

The VSP platform of series 5000 is designed in such a way that allows customers to begin with small projects and if necessary to expand them to the large-scale systems, providing at the same time the expected service levels. It is intended for acceleration of processing and consolidation of several workloads of any type – the traditional transaction systems, modern applications based on containers, means of analytics and even mainframes. The platform provides the high level of consolidation for economy of costs and reduction of the spaces occupied by the equipment of DPC.

Easily upgraded architecture of the platform is developed taking into account requirements of the future and provides transition from the settled technologies of data storage to the updated developments, such as SCM and NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF), without large-scale reorganization of infrastructures or additional investments into the equipment.
