2020: Announcement

On February 20, 2020 Hyundai provided as the company claims, the first in the world transmission adapting to road traffic on a route. The new solution which will find application in the Hyundai and Kia cars received  the name Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Connected Shift System.

A system obtains information from the TCU block (Transmission Control Unit) which analyzes data from cameras and the radar intellectual a cruise control and also data of navigation (existence of descents and rises, a roadbed gradient, profiles of turns and various road events and also a current status of traffic flow). On the basis of this information the artificial intelligence selects the optimal scenario of gear shifting.

Hyundai provided the first in the world transmission adapting to road traffic on a route

The tests of ICT Connected Shift System which are carried out jointly by Hyundai and KIA on the road with a large number of abrupt bends showed that when overcoming such section by the car equipped with this system about 43% less gear shiftings in comparison with the car which does not have ICT Connected Shift System are made. Respectively, use of a new system allowed to reduce also the frequency of use of the brake system approximately by 11% that favorably affected both decrease in fatigue of the driver, and degree of wear of brakes, it is specified in the message of South Korean car maker.

Hyundai and Kia will receive the transmission with artificial intelligence

Hyundai and KIA plan further improvement of ICT Connected Shift System and its transformation into even more intellectual technology of management of transmission allowing to interact with traffic lights using communication of the LTE standards or a 5G. Also improvement of recognition of intentions of the driver is planned that can make management of the gear shifting which was even more verified and exact.[1]
