2020: The announcement of the equipment for continuous monitoring of a radiation situation onboard spacecrafts

On January 17, 2020 the Ruselectronics company reported that it created the equipment for continuous monitoring of a radiation situation onboard spacecrafts. Existence of such equipment allows to control online wear of onboard electronics, to predict its failure and to perform timely replacement of spacecrafts in an orbit. Feature of development – the increased radiation resistance which is provided due to use of diamond detectors.

According to the company, ionizing radiation makes critical impact on onboard radio-electronic equipment that leads to need of permanent monitoring and forecasting of resistance of components and nodes of the space systems to radiative effects.

Use of a monitoring system will allow to measure dose and power parameters of space radiation, including a flow of heavy charged particles which have negative effect on operability of onboard radio electronics. Data of monitoring will help to calculate a residual resource of work of the electronic systems of the missile and space equipment.

Development of Rostec is completely created from the Russian component parts. In the equipment diamond detectors of space radiation are used, their radiation resistance is four-six times higher, than at silicon detectors which are used in the similar equipment of foreign production. This equipment is intended for installation on spacecrafts of the GLONASS series, the perspective piloted transport ships and also specialized spacecrafts of dual purpose. In the future the line of the radiation resistant equipment based on diamond materials will be expanded.
