Introduction of technology for removing digital rubles at ATMs

On November 8, 2023, VTB announced the first technology for removing digital rubles through ATMs to Russia. Its capabilities will be available to users of the VTB Online Internet banking system. It is assumed that it will be possible to receive real money converted from digital rubles in any of the 14 thousand ATMs of the bank throughout the Russian Federation.

According to the press service of the credit institution, in order to withdraw cash from the digital ruble account, the client needs to point the smartphone camera at the QR code of the ATM, after which VTB Online will open on the user's screen. As a source of debiting funds, you need to choose a digital ruble account, from where the necessary amount will first go to a non-cash account and then be available from a bank account for withdrawal at an ATM. The transfer from the digital ruble to a non-cash account will take place instantly and seamlessly for customers. All three forms of the ruble are equivalent to each other: 1 digital ruble = 1 non-cash ruble = 1 cash ruble.

Transfers and payments with a digital ruble are free for individuals, and when paying by individuals in favor of legal entities, the commission is 0.3% of the payment - this is 4 times lower than normal tariffs. The client can have one digital account with the bank, which will be available in the applications of banks connected to the digital ruble platform. In the future, it is planned to introduce smart contracts - making a transaction upon reaching certain conditions - and offline payment, when instant payments can be made even in the complete absence of the Internet.

Enter payment details using AI in the Android app

VTB Bank has released the next VTB Online update for Android, in which customers can enter payment details in a second. Instead of a person, this is done by artificial intelligence developed by the Russian scientific company Smart Engines. The company's scientists have created and trained ultralight neural networks that recognize payment details in the image right on the phone. As reported, when making a bank payment, a person needs to manually enter from 29 to 50 digits. The TIN of a private person consists of twelve digits, the legal person consists of ten.
