Dangerous vulnerabilities were found in Bitrix24. FSTEC publishes recommendations for protection

The notification service of the FSTEC remote control reported the emergence of several dangerous vulnerabilities present in the products of the Russian company 1C-Bitrix. In particular, we are talking about two errors with the ability to remotely execute code (RCE), two - reflected scripting (XSS), one - for disabling (DoS) and one - unsafe link (IDOR). Moreover, a detailed analysis has been published for each of these vulnerabilities and examples of use have been given that allow hackers to prepare working exploits for their "combat" use in a few hours.

In particular, one of the most dangerous RCE vulnerabilities in BDU:2023-07464 (CVE-2023-1713) is present in the bitrix/modules/crm/lib/order/import/instagram.php component, which is designed to import publications from the Instagram social network banned in Russia. It arose due to the failure to take measures to protect the structure of the web page. Exploitation of the vulnerability can allow an attacker acting remotely to execute arbitrary code by downloading a specially created htaccess file.

The second critical BDU:2023-07457 error (CVE-2023-1714) was found in the bitrix/modules/main/classes/general/user_options.php file, which manages settings in Bitrix24. It is associated with incorrect external management of the file name or path. Exploitation of the vulnerability can allow an attacker acting remotely to execute arbitrary code by adding arbitrary content to existing PHP files or deserializing PHP executable archives in PHAR format.

Integration of facial recognition technology from VisionLabs

On September 25, 2017, VisionLabs announced the integration of its facial recognition technology into the Bitrix24 cloud service, which is used in it to collect, update and improve company photo databases.

The algorithm of the program looks like this:

  • PhotoMaker technology from VisionLabs (the solution is based on the LUNA platform) "finds" the face of a client or company employee in a video stream from a webcam;
  • Selects the best image of each face, even if there are several faces in the frame (in this case, the best frame of each face is selected);
  • Cuts the face image from the frame;
  • The best personnel with faces is sent for recognition according to the company's database.

According to VisionLabs, everything happens in real time. The image processing speed is 20-30 frames per second. The video stream is analyzed locally, without being sent to the company server. At the same time, the program works even in weak communication channels and runs in any browser (Google Chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Yandex.Browser or Microsoft Edge).

For the user, the system looks like a regular interface of the Bitrix24 service - you do not need to download and install anything additionally. All you need to work with is a built-in or external webcam.
