2019: The single interface with Cisco Webex Teams and Cisco Webex Meetings

On June 17, 2019 the Cisco company provided the tools for joint work designed to make use of Cisco Jabber, Cisco Webex Teams and Cisco Webex Meetings are even more convenient.

Cisco Jabber 10.5

Jabra company, the developer of telephone headsets for different segments of the market: call centers, offices, mobile telephony and entertainments, announced in September, 2014 that all its key models of headsets and speakerphones are compatible to the new version of Cisco Jabber 10.5 for Windows now. The company announced the "built-in" drivers with support of Cisco Jabber and started Jabra PC Suite for call management in Cisco Jabber 9.2. The "built-in" drivers of Jabra provide seamless integration of headsets of a brand and decisions of Cisco without the additional external drivers complicating mass deployment. Call monitoring in Cisco Jabber 10.5 continues integration of audiodevices of Jabra into solutions of Cisco which simplify the choice of communication infrastructure for the companies and increase labor productivity of employees. Being Priority developer Cisco, the Jabra company constantly cooperates with this vendor, creating new products which open for users of advantage of unified communications.

Plantronics builds in control functions Jabber

On October 22, 2014 the Plantronics company announced obtaining the certificate of compatibility from Cisco for control function by calls and its forthcoming embedding in the Cisco Jabber application.

As a part of control functions by calls:

  • The remote answer / end of a call — it is possible to answer incoming calls of Jabber with simple clicking of the control button calls on the headset of Plantronics. Any active call of Jabber can be completed by also simple clicking of the same control button calls.

  • Shutdown/turning on of the microphone — the microphone at a conversation on Jabber can be disconnected or included clicking of the button on the headset of Plantronics. The button of shutdown of the microphone is synchronized with Jabber — in other words if the microphone is switched-off in the Jabber application, then it it is possible to include on the headset and vice versa.

  • Deduction/resuming of a conversation — some devices of Plantronics support function of deduction/resuming of a conversation where the call can be suspended for that time when the user uses other line for implementation of a call. The second, third and other calls can be received during the current call using activation of function of deduction on the line (or the flash functions if it is available on the device) and then switchings between the withheld calls.

  • Conference communication — function of carrying out conference calls Cisco Jabber is also supported by the built-in software module of Plantronics. Conference calls can be managed using the headset.

2012: Release of the Russian-language version of Cisco Jabber for iPad

Within the program "Jabber for all" the Cisco company put in June, 2012 on the market the Russian-language version of the application of Cisco Jabber for iPad. For work with the application of rather mobile Internet 3G. The software client can be downloaded free of charge in App Store online store.

Cisco Jabber for iPad promotes implementation of methods of joint work and creation of mobile jobs. 2011: Description of Cisco Jabber

The Cisco Jabber application for unified communications. It supports functions of accounting of presence, instant messages, voice transmissions, video and voice messages, joint work and conference communication on normal computers, computers with the Mac OS operating system, the tablet systems and smartphones. Cisco Jabber helps corporate users to perform simple and safe, in terms of an information access, search of the necessary people, to find out whether they are available to communication and if yes, that on what devices and also to conduct joint work, selecting this or that method or the device at discretion.

The Cisco Jabber application (it will be available to users of Mac-computers since summer of 2011) is created by the unified client interface placed or on the client computer, or in a network cloud. It gives to the user the chance easily and freely to pass from instant messages to voice and video conference and literally on the fly to start joint work functions. Besides, users will get instant access to necessary functions both at office, and beyond its limits.

The Cisco Jabber application for March, 2011 is already available or will become available in the future for platforms Windows iPhone iPad Nokia, Android and BlackBerry. In addition, Jabber is integrated with terminal Cisco Unified Cisco WebEx video devices IP Phone, MeetingCenter and Cisco TelePresence. Support of different platforms in any place, the user-friendliest, does joint work faster and effective. Besides, decision making processes and intercorporate cooperation accelerate, labor productivity increases.

The Cisco Jabber application is based on Jabber Inc technology. Cisco purchased this company in 2008. The Cisco Jabber functions are compatible to the solution Cisco Unified Communications Manager (version 6.1.4 above).

Interaction

For March, 2011 for accounting of presence and instant messaging of Cisco Jabber uses the standard industry XMPP protocol (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol). Mobility

Cisco Jabber provides to mobile users a wide variety of communication functions, such as presence accounting, instant messages, a voice over Wi-Fi and visual voice mail. Using Jabber technology the corporate user can synchronize the work on phone, the wireless device and the desktop computer and also conduct business negotiations on Wi-fi channels. Video

Video with high resolution according to H.264 standard allows to support interaction with Cisco TelePresence and other industry solutions for video conference.

Users will have an opportunity of multilateral conferences with continuous tracking of availability of subscribers. During group video conferences they will be able to see at the same time on the screen a great number of participants.

All listed possibilities of the integrated video conference are going to be brought to the market in the second half of 2011. Many of the products and functions described above are at different development stages and will be brought to the market in process of readiness. These plans can be reviewed and change at the discretion of Cisco.
