2018: Announcement
In January, 2018 the Samsung Electronics corporation issued the platform for Drvline unmanned vehicles. The solution is created together with Harman International company which the South Korean giant purchased in 2017 for $8 billion.
Drvline represents an open scalable set of hardware and program components which can be integrated with vehicles. Thanks to modular approach the platform allows to create the personalized cars - according to specifications which are preferred by car makers. It will be as a result possible to refuse "sets of the automobile brains which are not allowing retreats", says Samsung.
Drvline includes several components and the technologies created on the basis of experience of Samsung in the field of electronics, Internet of Things and the built-in systems including algorithms of calculations for auto pilots of different levels.
One of components of the platform is the system of cameras for control of a road situation created by Samsung and Harman taking into account standards and requirements of the NCAP program (New Car Assessment Program). Among them - warning of departure from a lane, warning of a possibility of frontal collision, detection of pedestrians and automatic abnormal braking.
Drvline is addressed to car makers and suppliers of transport services of a type of MaaS (Mobility as a Service). Customers will be able to begin to use the platform for self-governed machines from Samsung in 2018.
Demonstration of opportunities of Drvline took place at the CES 2018 exhibition in Las Vegas. In the same place Samsung and Harman showed the Digital Cockpit platform allowing to create displays for data output and management of automobile functions.
Besides, Samsung and Harman announced development telematic a solution 5G which, using modular assembly of management, will provide access to a multimedia content of high resolution and cloud applicaions in motor transport.[1]
