Google Play Protect most worse protects gadgets

Specialists of AV-Test laboratory tested[1] efficiency of 20 anti-virus solutions for mobile devices based on Android and came to a conclusion that a corporate antivirus of Google - Play Protect most worse protects gadgets from the malware[2].

While other anti-virus products find the fresh versions of malwares (detected for the last four weeks) for Android in 99%-100% of cases, the success of Play Protect was only 65.8%. In testing for detection of earlier versions of the malware for Android of 13 of 20 tested antiviruses showed result in 100%, all others (except Play Protect) – in 93% and above. The result of Play Protect was worst – 79.2%. Play Protect became the only product which did not receive AV-Test certification.

Google provided Play Protect in July, 2017, this antivirus for the first time participates in AV-TEST testing.

Among the best antiviruses there were solutions of Trend Micro, Symantec, Sophos, Cheetah Mobile, Bitdefender and Antiy – all of them could detect a malicious code in 100% of cases. A few worst figures showed Tencent and McAfee (99.9%), G Data, Ahn Lab and Avast (99.8%).

Obligatory completing by Play Protect antivirus

A large number of problems with security at devices on OS Android pushed Google to resolute actions. The monthly updates directed to elimination of the existing vulnerabilities were first entered, an in the summer of 2017 all devices based on Android began to be completed with Play Protect antivirus. Devices reckon officially certified by Google with the built-in antivirus, and on their packagings it will be possible to find a special tag in the form of the Play Protect logo. At the same time an antivirus it will be possible to install Android on any the device which even did not undergo certification, however date of an official release of the application in Google Play is unknown.

The antivirus will scan in the background a system and applications regarding various threats and to work at a basis of machine learning[5].
