On August 27, 2020 it became known of the decision of the Ministry of Defence to use artificial intelligence in Hunter in order that heavy shock the drone could make decisions on the attack independently.

According to TASS, the Ministry of Defence decided to make Hunter distant interceptor: the UAV with weapon of big range will be be brought to boundaries of several thousands of kilometers on interception the opponent's airplanes, i.e. will be to attack air targets to them approach to a zone of air defense. It is supposed that flight the unmanned aerial vehicle it will be coordinated at the same time with ground stations of management, from the piloted SU-57 fighters and via satellites.

The Russian Defense Ministry adds AI to the military drone for the attacks without order

As for artificial intelligence, thanks to it pilotless the bomber will be able to perform combat missions without direct the order of the person at the time of flight. So, the UAV will be able independently conduct search of separate types of the purposes, report on them and attack. At it the drone will fly in completely standalone mode.

The Hunter UAV developed in design office of Sukhoy it is executed according to the scheme "flying wing" using stealth technology, what reduces its radar visibility. According to open sources to which TASS, the take-off mass of the device refers makes up to 20 tons, the maximum speed of flight is about 1000 km/h.

Earlier the UAV executed flight together with the SU-57 fighter. Drone maneuvered in air in the automatic mode at the height about 1600 m, duration of flight exceeded 30 minutes.

The beginning of deliveries of Hunters is planned for 2024. By words the CEO of United Aircraft Corporation Yury Slyusar, big orders for deliveries of the heavy UAV are expected. Budget project works it is estimated at 1.6 billion rubles.[1]
