2019: Explosion of the electric vehicle
At the end of July, 2019 there was a sudden ignition of Hyundai Kona at Canadian Piero Cosentino. According to the car owner, the electric vehicle exploded though it was not in process of accumulator charging and was not connected to the power supply network.
Kosentino purchased Hyundai Kona in March, 2018. An incident occurred on July 26 the 2019th. The motorist was going to have dinner as he suddenly heard explosion then the fire warning worked. Dense black smoke went from the door conducting in its garage.
The motorist ran out from the house, at once called firefighters and began to extinguish fire using a garden hose. The roof of a garage in which there was an electric car burned down to a tl, and a blast wave carried away its doors on the street. The part of the house was destroyed because of explosion of the vehicle and the fire.

Fortunately, during ignition of Hyundai Kona nobody suffered. But, according to Kosentino if someone was near a garage, then everything could end it is deplorable.
By August 12, 2019 investigation of the reasons of the event continues. It is carried out by law enforcement agencies together with firefighters and Hyundai Canada company.
From the electric vehicle almost nothing remained, except for the burned body. According to the head of the fire service participating in suppression, Louis Derozye of Hyundai Kona was in ignition epicenter, and except the electric car he does not see any other possible causes of explosions. But the final answer to a question of the reasons of the incident will be given only by investigation.
It is the first known case of combustion of Hyundai Kona though, for example, cTesla Model similar already happened.
2018: Announcement of the electric version
The Hyundai Kona Electric model will be on sale in two versions. The basic option assumes use of the block of lithium-pol cells with a capacity of 39.2 kilowatt-hours and the 135 hp electric motor and with a torsional moment of 395 Nanometers. In the maximum equipment the electric car will receive the motor on 204 hp and a set of batteries on 64 kilowatt-hours. The maximum stock of the course at versions will make 300 and 470 km respectively.
Hyundai Kona Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds, and motion speed is limited to 167 km/h.
Accumulator charging from the household power supply network takes nearly 10 hours in a case with top modification of the electric vehicle. When using the 100-kilowatt charger the charge stock in the battery can increase from 0% up to 80% less than for an hour.
In addition to the electrical power unit, Kona Electric differs from the normal version of the crossover with DVS the closed radiator grille changed by bumpers and corporate 17-inch rims. Changes in an interior minimum.
Entered an adaptive cruise control with function of a complete stop a set of security systems of the machine, the system of prevention of frontal collisions capable to define pedestrians and also function of monitoring of the blind zones and machines moving in the cross direction. An information and entertaining system with the 7-inch touch display and support of the mobile Apple Android CarPlay and Auto interfaces is provided.
Hyundai is going to begin sales of Kona Electric in the first half of 2018. The price of the electric vehicle is not set. It is also unknown whether it will be on sale in the Russian market.
