2021: Lenovo provided the ThinkReality A3 AR glasses displaying 5 virtual displays

On January 10, 2021 the Lenovo company provided intellectual ThinkReality A3 glasses. ThinkReality A3 glasses — the universal device for the companies, they enter a packet of the complete digital solutions contributing to intellectual development of the companies. The gadget is capable to project to five virtual displays around the user. The company claims that use of points will allow to increase efficiency at joint projects, especially during remote work.

According to the company as hybrid models of work for 2021 become a reality, the small and large companies aim to implement technologies for intellectual cooperation, optimization of efficiency and reduction of a downtime worldwide. ThinkReality A3 glasses help to transform a company performance at many levels — from the configured virtual displays before support of workflows by technology of augmented reality (AR) and three-dimensional visualization.

ThinkReality A3 are connected using a cable USB- C to the PC. ThinkReality A3 glasses can be used as sun-protection and also can be complemented with an industrial frame for safer and long-lasting use. They are equipped processor Qualcomm Snapdragon with XR1 (it is created specially developed for headsets of virtual and augmented reality) and stereoscopic displays with the permission 1080p on which the user can observe up to 5 virtual windows. the 8-megapixel RGB camera shoots video in permission 1080p, suitable for use by removed experts, and double cameras with a lens "a fish eye" allow to make observation within the premises. Two cameras which are built in lenses estimate scales of the premises and work with it in 3D to place virtual objects.

As it appears from the name, points are created on the ThinkReality platform, the AR and VR system which Lenovo advances several years. New A3 model looks more compact version of former A6 glasses.

The version of ThinkReality A3 PC Edition glasses is connected to to the computer that users could place several big virtual monitors under review and use software tools and applications Windows. Virtual monitors optimize PC capacity, provide confidentiality data and create effect of immersion. Thus it is possible to create big working spaces, without occupying all kitchen table, or to work from different places, without dragging with itself huge screens.

The Workspace program is optimized and compatible to notebooks and workstations of Lenovo based on processors Intel and AMD.

The production version of ThinkReality A3 Industrial Edition glasses is connected to to mobile phones Motorola for contactless accomplishment of tasks with support of augmented reality in difficult working environments.

The certified ready applications on the ThinkReality platform, held for use in different scenarios — from factory workshops and laboratories to crowded shops and hotels — provide the remote help, provide management of workflows and 3D - visualization for users of ThinkReality A3 Industrial Edition glasses.

The version of Industrial Edition is intended for connection to the Motorola smartphones therefore it is a little more portable. It is supposed that this model could be used in production workshops, retail trade, hotel business and other industries, including for information visualization, monitoring of conditions and training of new personnel.

The ThinkReality platform from Lenovo helps to accelerate implementation of wearable computing devices of the next generation, providing intellectual technologies for increase in productivity of employees.

Smart ThinkReality A3 glasses and the A6 headset belong to devices of Lenovo with support of augmented reality. The ThinkReality A6 headset is equipped with the full-function touch matrix expanded by memory, the waveguide optics with the permission 1080p and the removable accumulator for more continuous use of the device on the head.

The number of scenarios of use of virtual reality grows in the companies and already covers areas from training and modeling before immersive experience in the field of sales and marketing. The universal Lenovo Mirage VR S3 headset is developed especially for the companies, is ready to scaling for the purpose of implementation of global transactions and is suitable for solutions of training in communicative skills. For advanced applications of virtual reality of Lenovo offers a portfolio of the workstations certified for work with different Varjo VR headsets and is reseller of solutions Varjo.

Lenovo states that ThinkReality A3 will be available in the middle of 2021, but by January 12 does not specify the price.[1]

2019: Announcement of the platform

On May 13, 2019 Lenovo provided AR/ VR- the ThinkReality platform which is capable to be integrated with any corporate devices and SOFTWARE for the implementation complemented and virtual reality. The solution should become the competitor Microsoft Hololens.

The first device in the ThinkReality family was ThinkReality A6 which weighs only 380 g and is equipped with two cameras on a front part, depth sensors, the RGB sensor in 13 Megapixels and also the microphone for voice actuation. An AR helmet traces gaze direction of the user for optimization of permission or navigation. It is possible to interact with a virtual environment by means of the controller with 3 degrees of freedom.

The accumulator with a capacity of 6800 mAh is expected 4 working hours, but a helmet can use also at connection to network. ThinkReality A6 provides a diagonal viewing angle of 40 degrees and permission 1080p. A helmet is connected to external computing block on the basis of Android Oreo which enter processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with support with a LTE speed of 1.2 Gbps, Intel the Movidius Vision processor, modules Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The ThinkReality platform does not depend on certain devices and cloud environments – corporate clients can use it for work with AR/VR-applications in different operating systems, cloud services or devices. Lenovo states that the platform is intended for a number of AR-applications, including solutions which reduce operating time, optimize workflows, improve efficiency of joint work or personnel training. Besides, the platform will allow to create own AR-applications, for example, for training or optimization of work of employees.
