Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 is a working platform for the enterprises and work in the Internet which integrated functions give ample opportunities of communication between people.

There are four versions of SharePoint Server 2010:

  • SharePoint Server 2010 with the functions provided according to the client license Enterprise Client Access License. It is intended for the organizations which would like to broaden the working platform on more difficult scenarios. Possibilities of release of SharePoint Enterprise can be used for ensuring full compatibility with external business applications, web services, the client applications Microsoft Office, for acceptance of more effective solutions using enhanced capabilities of visualization and data analysis, monitoring panels and also for creation of forms and applications on the basis of workflows.

  • SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites, Enterprise (corporate version). It is intended for the organizations intending to create public websites for clients and private ekstraset using all range of corporate opportunities of SharePoint. In this version all SharePoint Enterprise functions without any technical restrictions are available.

  • SharePoint Server 2010 with the functions provided according to the client license Standard Client Access License. It is intended for the organizations which would like to unroll the working platform for all data types. Basic opportunities of SharePoint can be applied to data management and business processes, search, sharing of information and exchange of experience and also to simplification of interaction between people in the organization and beyond its limits.

  • SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites, Standard (standard version). It is intended for the small and medium organizations intending to create public websites or the simplest ekstraset using fixed functions of SharePoint Server 2010.


For the last time, very many began to think concerning the integrated software environment in which employees will be able effectively to work with commands, as within the company, and far off. Results showed that applications for business process management and workflow enjoy the greatest popularity, but the companies still lack clear strategy in SharePoint use. Similar researches should help players of the market to understand what benefit can be taken from SharePoint and to define priorities of the companies making investments in similar implementations. Main results of a research:

  • Implementations of SharePoint 2010 already considerably advance SharePoint 2007: they are used by 49% and 43% of respondents respectively. Based on the previous similar research conducted in January of this year, both versions enjoyed almost identical popularity: 44% of respondents used SharePoint 2010 and 43 of % — SharePoint 2007. At the same time in August, 2010 the situation cardinally differed from present: only 8% of respondents used SharePoint 2010 and 81 of % — SharePoint 2007. All this demonstrates that the release of SharePoint of 2010 continues to gain quickly popularity and to force out the old version.
  • Applications for business process management and workflow are in the greatest demand. 67% otproshenny indicated that they use or are going to use applications of SharePoint for business process management (BPM). Besides, applications on management of business and technology processes are in the lead among used or planned to use as additional applications of SharePoint. 23% of participants of a research confirmed that more than 50% of important documentation are stored in their SharePoint environment that is caused by the growing needs for automation of processing of documents, crucial for business.
  • Concern about lack of accurate business strategy of use of SharePoint grows in a business environment. Importance of this question from the moment of the previous research increased: in January, 2011 participants of polls allocated to a problem of strategic positioning of SharePoint only the fourth place whereas now respondents consider it adaptation of SharePoint, the second most important after a problem, under needs of the organization. The companies are more and more focused on creation of general strategies for all enterprise which will allow to combine business needs with IT policy, and BPM-applications which become more and more demanded among users by SharePoint will help to achieve these goals.

In what system effectiveness of SharePoint?

  • Shared access. For creation of shared access of a command SharePoint Server is used (even if some participants of group to be in different points). Also there is an opportunity to set settings of the server which will allow commands (participants) to use that part of the server to which access is configured it will allow to conduct simultaneous operation of commands on the server.

Microsoft started the version of SharePoint 2010 on the market. Now with entry into the market of the long-awaited version of SharePoint 2010, old WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 receded into the background. WSS exchanged on Microsoft Fundation 2010 and SharePoint Server changed only 2007 for 2010. These products and components of Microsoft SharePoint technology exceeded the predecessors on the following functions:

  • SharePoint 2010 became most compatible to the popular browsers Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari.
