2019: The announcement of Surface Hub 2S, the price — from $9 thousand.

On April 17, 2019 Microsoft provided the Surface Hub 2S computer intended for joint work of staff of the companies. The producer opened product characteristics, the price and start date of sales.

The device is created in two versions — with 50-and 85-inch displays. In Microsoft note that the touch layer is built in the screen at the expense of what it was succeeded to improve contrast, to accelerate response time of a matrix and to increase color rendition accuracy.

The display has direct illumination and a side glass framework only 15.5 mm thick. Affirms that the Surface Hub 2S screen has the lowest for such equipment optical parallax, providing wide angles of the overview.

Innovation is equipped with the solid state drive with a M.2 capacity of 128 Gbytes, modules of wireless communication Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, the network Ethernet interface, the Intel processor Core i5 (the eighth generation), 8 Gbytes of RAM, the fingerprint scanner and USB-C, USB-A, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort connectors.

The removable front camera with the resolution of 4K for video calls which fastens to the device by means of magnets is provided. For $1400 it will be possible to purchase in addition the rechargeable battery which will provide the device with independent operation for two hours.

85-inch Microsoft Surface Hub 2S computer

Also the producer points to presence of an array from 8 microphones capable to catch a sound from far away. As for a program component, in Surface Hub 2S close integration with Microsoft services is implemented, including Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office.

The cost of Surface Hub 2S with 50-inch the display will begin with $9 thousand and, as expected, will reach $12 thousand. The price of the 85-inch version of a product is not published. Sales of the younger version of office computer will begin in June, 2019.[1]

2018

The second generation will be on sale in versions of Surface Hub 2S and Surface Hub 2X

In September, 2018 the Microsoft company for the first time provided to general public office wall Surface Hub tablet of the second generation.

According to the presentation which took place within the Microsoft Ignite 2018 conference in Orlando (the State of Florida, the USA), the device will be on sale in versions under the names Surface Hub 2S and Surface Hub 2X. They differ in program and hardware filling.

The first of them will receive the 50.5-inch touch display with resolution capability 4K and an aspect ratio 3:2. The software is taken from first generation of Surface Hub  therefore Surface Hub 2S will have no such functions as image rotation when changing orientation of the display with landscape on portrait, support of several accounts and an opportunity "stick together" several tablets in one videowall. The debut of Surface Hub 2S in the commercial market is planned for the second quarter 2019.

The version of Surface Hub 2X which will be released in 2020 has both hardware, and program innovations. Among them — presence of the removable cartridges with processors located behind. There is also a fingerprint scanner for fast authorization of employees of the companies and also the preset set of Microsoft Office 365 services.

Microsoft did not publish the complete price list on the wall monoblocks, but noted that the prices of Surface Hub 2X will reach $22 thousand[2]

Announcement of the second generation

On May 15, 2018 the Microsoft company provided the wall Surface Hub tablet of the second generation. One of the main differences of innovation from the predecessor consists in an opportunity to use the device in both in horizontal, and in vertical positions.

Thanks to portrait orientation it is possible to integrate several Surface Hub 2 in the uniform display. The Windows 10 operating system is responsible for a program component.

Microsoft provided the second generation of the wall computer of the class "all-water" Surface Hub focused on corporate use.

The Surface Hub 2 model is supplied with the 50.5-inch touch display with an aspect ratio 3:2 which can be attached not only to a wall, but also to set as a board on a special support. The first version of a product was offered in options with 55-and 84-inch screens with  the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The detailed technical information is not disclosed on Surface Hub 2 at the time of the announcement. It is known that sensitive microphones, the rotary 4K-camera, loudspeakers and the fingerprint scanner are provided in the computer. 

Office tablet is focused on collaboration of staff of the companies and holding the presentations. Each user in one company will be able to use the profile and to work with own documents and to tasks. It is noted that a considerable part of the software of the device is optimized for the corporate Microsoft Teams messenger. The tablet "flexible and easy" therefore employees will be able freely to transfer it on office, was noted in Microsoft.

Microsoft Surface Hub 2 will go on sale in 2019

The device will come to the market in 2019, but some clients will be able to receive the equipment slightly earlier. Its cost is not sounded. The price of Surface Hub  of first generation begins with $9 thousand. "Smart" boards from Google  cost  $5000, from Cisco — $5-10 thousand depending on screen diagonal.

According to Microsoft, to the middle of May, 2018 of Surface Hub of first generation use more than 5 thousand companies, including a half of participants of rating of Fortune 100.[3]

2016: Beginning of sales

At the end of March, 2016 Microsoft began Surface Hub sales. As expected, the cost of office monoblock for $2 thousand was higher, stated earlier.

The younger version of Surface Hub came to the market at the price of $9 thousand, senior — for $22 thousand. In 2015 Microsoft spoke about the prices in $7 and 20 thousand respectively. The reason of rise in price is not stated.

2015

Delay of sales and increase in prices for Surface Hub

On December 22, 2015 Microsoft announced the next postponement of an entry of Surface Hub into the commercial market. Besides, the prices of this huge office tablet on $2 thousand will be higher in comparison with what was called by the American company before.

The Surface Hub tablet provided in January, 2015 was initially going to be put on the market on September 1, however the release was delayed prior to the beginning of January, 2016. But also this date was not final.

Microsoft raised by $2 thousand the price of huge office tablet and postponed sales

According to the online edition ZDNet with reference to Microsoft, the beginning of sales of Surface Hub is planned on the first quarter 2016. More exact terms are not called.

Meanwhile, the new prices on Surface Hub became known. the 55-inch version of the device will cost $9 thousand instead of $7 thousand which Microsoft sounded at the time of the announcement of a product. the 84-inch device will cost $22 thousand instead of $20 thousand. Issued preorders on Surface Hub (are open in July, 2015) it is not necessary to overpay — for them the old prices will work.

Microsoft did not explain the product value addition reason. Only the following is said in the official statement of the company:

"Our production plan directed to supplying a product with the best solutions comes to the end. After assessment of market opportunities and studying of the unique scenarios of joint work offered Surface we considered these prices correct for business development and category of these products".[4]

Specifications, the prices and terms of the beginning of sales of Microsoft Surface Hub are published

On June 10, 2015 the Microsoft company published detailed information on characteristics of Surface Hub, cost and terms of the beginning of sales of the tablet.

The device intended for carrying out video conferences, meetings of regular and remote workers and also for exchange of corporate data between employees of the company will be on sale in two versions — with screens of 55 and 84 inches in size on diagonal.

Less large (the sizes — 1514.3 x 806.4 x 85.8 mm, weight — 48 kg) and technically advanced modification is equipped with the Intel processor Core i5 Haswell integrated by the graphic accelerator of Intel of HD 4600 and the screen with resolution capability 1920 x 1080 points.

Specifications, cost and terms of the beginning of sales of Microsoft Surface Hub are published

Microsoft Surface Hub will be costs up to $20 thousand.

Senior model (2202.9 x 1171.5 x 105.4 mm; 127 kg) received the Intel Core i7 Haswell chip and the discrete NVIDIA Quadro K2200 video adapter, and resolution of the display is 3840 x 2160 pixels (Ultra HD, 4K).

Both products have 8 Gbytes of RAM, the solid state drive with a capacity of 128 Gbytes, wireless communications Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC and Miracast, the built-in video cameras with Full HD matrixes, sensors of lighting and presence of the user, USB connectors DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA and 2.0.

Microsoft Surface Hub is controlled the modified Windows 10 operating system which is optimized under corporate work and contains a number of the corresponding appendices, like the program for notes of OneNote and the corporate version of Skype.

The 55-inch version of big office Microsoft tablet will cost $7 thousand, and for larger option the producer will ask 20 thousand. The price is not small, but Microsoft notes that the modern audiovisual equipment for conference rooms costs on 8-12 people even more — about $38 thousand.

The preorder on purchase of Microsoft Surface Hub will be open on July 1, 2015. Sales start in September.

Microsoft reported that there were already several potential buyers of the tablet. Among them — the medical center Cleveland Clinic, the Chicago law firm Bartlit Beck and the New York company Shop Architects.[5]

According to Microsoft, the Surface Hub tablet shows focus of the company on the corporate solutions increasing work performance.

The software giant did not announce terms during which it is going to begin sales of big office tablet. Its price is also not set.
