The Traffic Jam Pilot system can be activated at a speed up to 60 km/h, turning the car into the driver. Sensors of observation of an environment recreate the broad picture of the events, working at the same time together with the system of navigation which precisely knows on what roads the autopilot system is activated.

For start of a system the driver needs to click AUDI AI on the central panel. As soon as the stopper comes to an end, visual-aural signals suggest the driver to take over control again.

Data from external sensors are transferred to the graphic processor from Mobileye company processing images from cameras and to the Nvidia on-board computer processing information and driving the car in the pilotless mode. It should be noted, to a chtodazha in pilotless A8 mode constantly monitors the driver: if he fell asleep, the machine will try to wake him and if it is not possible to wake — will stop.

In 2018 Audi A8L will become the first-ever commercial car of the third level of autonomy. It will be equipped with six NVIDIA processors ensuring functioning of an auto pilot of Traffic Jam Pilot, tools of a virtual cabin, information and entertaining system and tablets for back passengers. Visitors of GTC could first look at this progressive machine, and many already look forward when the Traffic Jam Pilot system becomes a part of their everyday life.
