The NVIDIA GRID technology is the solution for virtualization of GPU, remote access and management of a session which allows several users to work at the same time with graphically saturated applications, using shares of GPU. The technology is designed to solve a problem of virtualization and remote access to jobs in such areas as automatization of design (CAD), information management in construction (BIM), product lifecycle management (PLM), work with the systems of archiving and transfer of images in the field of health care, photo and video editing.

2017: The technology of support of VDI is upgraded

On August 17, 2017 the Nvidia company announced upgrade and renovation of the technology product Nvidia Grid vPC.

The company explained this step with the growing demand for graphically accelerated VDI. By means of upgrade in the version of Nvidia Grid, to use of Nvidia Tesla accelerators on the Pascal platform, the technology of GRID vPC provides:

  • the increased density of users and scalability - Tesla P40 supports up to 24 copies of 1 GB of virtual desktop profiles, what is 50% more, than on Tesla M60;
  • monitoring of vGPU – management tools and monitoring of vGPU at all levels of virtualization from a host to the guest machine. Monitoring at the level of the application allows IT specialists to configure and manage opportunities of users thinly. Integration with VMware vRealize Operations (vROps), Citrix Director and XenCenter provide flexibility and a possibility of control from a uniform point;
  • the improved service – the scheduler of the GPU resources helps IT specialists to distribute the vGPU resources between users, preventing emergence of delays and deterioration in the user opportunities.

2015: Nvidia issued the upgraded solution of virtualization of graphics of GRID 2.0

On August 30, 2015 Nvidia provided NVIDIA GRID technology of version 2.0 for work of graphically saturated, resource-intensive applications in virtual environment on any device connected to network.

According to the statement of the company, NVIDIA GRID 2.0 provides the unprecedented performance, efficiency and flexibility of the virtualized graphics in corporate environment. Users can work practically in any place without delays when loading files.
