2020: Opening of free access to Nvidia Parabricks

On March 19, 2020 the NVIDIA company announced the beginning of providing the free 90-day license on Parabricks to all researchers of a coronavirus. By software of Parabricks it is based on the popular Genome Analysis tool kit and works based on GPU, accelerating data analysis in sequences to 50 times. NVIDIA monitors a situation, and we will be ready to prolong access as required.

If the user has an access to the graphic processors NVIDIA, it is necessary to fill a form to obtain the license for Parabricks.

The repository of the tools accelerated on GPU is available to the researchers working with sequencing with long reading of Oxford Nanopore on GitHub. Acceleration on the graphic processors NVIDIA also support such applications as Medaka, Racon, Raven, Reticulatus, Unicycler.

Researchers sequence both a coronavirus genome, and genomes of the people who got sick with COVID-19 to understand how the disease extends and whom she mentions first of all. However the analysis of the sequences of genomes takes a lot of time and requires essential computing resources.

Acceleration of scientific research is one of priority tasks of NVIDIA for a long time. The Parabricks command was a part of NVIDIA in December, 2019, having complemented the existing NVIDIA tools with tools in the field of sequencing of a genome. The Parabriks tools help to reduce time of determination of options of human genome from days to an hour on only one server.

NVIDIA invites partners to join the help to researchers. As of March, 2020 the company discusses a possibility of providing computing resources and access to Parabricks on platforms of providers of cloud services and the supercomputer centers.

The company will add references to the partners providing access to cloud servers based on GPU NVIDIA and to this software in process of obtaining information.
