QlikView Business Discovery

The QlikView Business Discovery platform allows to analyze information on activity of the enterprise in different cuts and irrespective of in what accounting systems this information is stored. Use of QlikView on mobile devices gives to the management an opportunity to control business from any place in the world and to quickly make decisions.

An analytical system should be unrolled quickly even when using a large number of data sources, incorporate means of joint work, analytics in real time, "cloud" BI. Special attention was paid to opportunities of visualization and support of mobile platforms (iOS, Android, BlackBerry OS).

The solution QlikView provides to users of means for the analysis, forecasting, modeling of a situation, control of key indicators and company performance. Any calculations are executed instantly even at very large volumes of information and simultaneous operation of a large number of users. On March 5, 2012 the Jet Infosystems company announced completion of the Russia's first stress testing of a system of the business analysis of QlikView – platforms of the class Business Discovery. According to the received results, the platform is applicable for creation of solutions of Enterprise-level.

QlikTech released the version of QlikView 11 which is positioned as the platform of Enterprise-level capable to solve major and complex analytical problems. Understanding potential benefits of QlikView, the Jet Infosystems company suggested to hold stress testing of the platform for evident demonstration of its work to potential customers.

"The projects of creation of BI systems implemented by us show that the effective and at the same time flexible tools capable quickly are necessary for the companies to analyze large volumes of data. We made the decision on conducting testing of QlikView, aiming to satisfy business needs of our customers, – Anna Kharitonova, the head of department of the business analysis of the Center of software solutions of Jet Infosystems company comments. – The research of the platform allowed us to study in detail features of the new version of a product and to provide the guaranteed result of implementation of QlikView as the Enterprise-solution".

Data for a research – the depersonalized database containing about 3 billion records, and examples of daily created analytical reports – were provided by one of customer companies which number of staff exceeds 5000 people. In the company about 500 competitive users at the same time work with the reporting. These numerical indicators meet standard for a segment of large business.

The load research was conducted on three versions of the QlikView server and three stands of different configurations. At the first stage specialists of Jet Infosystems company tested QlikView on virtual machines. Having convinced that the solution effectively works with large volumes of data in "cloud", experts of integrator continued testing of the platform on the physical server and a cluster. The used load scenarios were as close as possible to real working conditions of users. In total more than 20 load tests were carried out.

During testing it was succeeded to exceed more than twice the indicators meeting standard for a segment of large business: 500 competitive users, 7 billion records. Also during the research experts of the system integrator developed QlikView implementation methodology in the companies of an Enterprise-segment considering specifics of big corporate customers.

QlikView for iOS

In October, 2012 the QlikTech company announced expansion of opportunities QlikView on mobile devices, having released the new application for operating system iOS with ample opportunities as for on-line, and autonomous access from mobile devices. The QlikView for IOS application offered now for iPad tablets through app store of Apple App Store supports opportunities for work in a standalone mode which supplement possibilities of the on-line access to QlikView provided via the browser. QlikView developed together with the customer from the five of the largest international pharmaceutical companies, this application completely models work with the Accesspoint portal, implementing use support by analytical applications of QlikView of functions HTML5. Having connected to the portal, users can involve all powerful and flexible opportunities of the QlikView Business Discovery platform, and the new standalone mode of work provides access to lack of connection. The application can be loaded free of charge and works with any server license QlikView 11 without additional payment.

In the presence of application connection of QlikView can work with data in real time and provide all interactive functions of a business intelligence. Here the associative model of work with data, global search, functions of dynamic data visualization and joint work enter. When implementing these opportunities functions of data filtering, association management and accomplishment of real-time calculations of the QlikView server will be used. The unique combination of flexibility and power of the functionality allowing to receive answers to unpredictable questions which can arise during the mobile work is result of it.

The flexible, determined by the user representations for a standalone mode

In addition to the full range of functions of the Business Discovery platform available in the presence of connection, the new mode of independent operation allowing to get on iPad access to certain notions even in the absence of connection is provided in the QlikView for IOS application. Users can define a range of information which should be available independently, using different tabs and measurements of QlikView. After that the QlikView server generates a number of "cuts" for the application which are ciphered and loaded on iPad. In the absence of connection users have an opportunity to start applications of QlikView, to browse all tabs and objects and also to select different combinations of tabs and measurements by means of fixed functions of the interface. As users independently select tabs which should be available in offline, the dependence on developers of reports who should foresee their requirements almost completely is eliminated.

Single user interface

QlikView for iOS provides the advanced functionality supplementing and expanding the standard opportunities for work of QlikTech offered on mobile devices thanks to support of HTML5. Now the organizations should not make the choice between use of QlikView on the mobile device via the Safari browser or through the new QlikView for IOS application. Irrespective of the used client of QlikView offers the identical interface and the principles of work on all platforms, and now also irrespective of existence or lack of connection. Besides, the QlikView Server server still provides the centralized operation and security aids necessary for the most exacting IT departments. Thanks to emergence of QlikView for IOS it is not necessary to make a compromise between autonomous functionality and means of Business Discovery – all opportunities are available to the organizations.

The QlikView Workbench component simplifies and accelerates creation of objects of the QlikView expansions in Microsoft Visual Studio®. The new template of the Visual Studio projects contains the files necessary for creation of an operable object of the QlikView expansions and its publication on the QlikView server. The advanced API interface for a call of control functions of QlikView allows to automate the QlikView environment, programming different processes of administration of QlikView Server and QlikView Publisher.

In QlikView 11 there were more than 50 new addressing the API interface which can be used for automation of different problems of object management for joint work, import of tasks and setup of the connector for directory services. Besides, in new API remote administration, access to the transaction journal, management of licenses for QlikView Server and QlikView Publisher and also access control to sections are supported.

In the new version of QlikView it became simpler to architects and administrators to exercise centralized operation of data. Now they can create QVD files (data files of QlikView) on the server with QlikView Publisher irrespective of creation of the QVW files (files of QlikView), including using scripts. Besides, QVD attribute files of access of the NTFS file system can use this mechanism to appointment.

Data analysis in the pharmaceutical companies

In the QlikView system the combination of three crucial elements – an associative data model thanks to which work of the analyst is built under laws of a human thought, the in-memory technology allowing to increase system operation speed in comparison with the traditional Business Intelligence systems, and the intuitive user interface is implemented. At the same time a system consolidates information from all diverse data sources (from the transaction systems (Oracle, SAP, salesforce.com), the traditional BI systems (Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion), data warehouses, the applied systems using different databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL), but also, from local files of Excel and simple text files) in a uniform information field".

More than one hundred pharmaceutical companies selected from the world for the analysis of corporate data the QlikView system. So, for example, the QlikView system is already used by such companies as GlaxoSmithKline, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Actavis, B/Braun, Alk Abello, FFF Enterprises, Lundbek, Radiometer, Solvay, Novartis, Sanofi-aventis and others.

According to IDC, in the pharmaceutical companies which implemented QlikView, information analysis accelerated for 40%, labor productivity of employees increased by 38% at reduction of operating expenses on 24%, income increased by 20%, at growth of customer satisfaction by 43%.

Integration of the QlikView Business Discovery platform and Salesforce Chatter system

On September 8, 2011 the QlikTech company announced expansion of social opportunities of the QlikTech Business Discovery platform: now, thanks to Chatter Connect support, finding solutions can be performed within collective work — the Salesforce Chatter service facilitates interaction with colleagues within department or a project team and supports information exchange directly in applications of QlikView. The openness of the QlikView Business Discovery platform allows to integrate freely it with other software products and thus to expand functionality of a system.

"Thanks to integration of QlikView and Chatter employees have an opportunity to conduct joint finding solutions, being based on the real data — Anthony Deighton, the senior vice president for the products QlikView explains. — The tools implemented by the platform for internal communication allow to increase audience of users of means of ‘the social business analysis’. Users can discuss the acquired information, share knowledge and the ideas — such method of collective work provides the greatest effect by search of the correct solution. Chatter helps to save data together with a context, fixing the factors which influenced adoption of these or those solutions. Besides, Chatter notifies users of QlikView on important updates, helping them to be connected quickly to discussions and to answer timely questions.

The project of integration Chatter and QlikView was implemented with the assistance of Centerstance company, the supplier of the advanced innovation services and solutions intended for all levels of model of cloud computing: the infrastructure provided in the form of service (IaaS); the platform provided in the form of service (PaaS); the software provided in the form of service (SaaS). Program of certification on QlikView 11

The program of certification on QlikView 11 for customers will expand the program of certification for partners announced earlier. The program of certification which customers and participants of the affiliate program of Qonnect will be able to use since fall of 2012 allows to confirm knowledge and skills of users of QlikView and also to quantitatively estimate the level of understanding and skills of work with the QlikView Business Discovery platform.

The program of certification on QlikView 11 offers three directions – certification of designers QlikView, certification of QlikView developers and certification of administrators of the QlikView systems, requiring passing of the recommended cycle of classroom occupations and existence of practical experience of work on real projects. Each of examinations allows specialists of QlikTech to estimate knowledge and skills of work with a product which are available for customers and also gives to customers the chance to compare the skills to the set competence level.

With the purpose to increase availability and to expand a scope of the program of certification on QlikView 11 the QlikTech company signed the agreement with Pearson VUE company, the world leader in the field of services of computer testing at acceptance in educational institutions, obtaining licenses and certificates. Now certification examinations for designers and QlikView developers are carried out in eight languages – the English, Brazilian option of Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese (for the simplified letter), German, Russian, French and Japanese.

2011: Associative architecture of QlikView

The majority of types of OLAP systems is based on requests and cubes. The similar architecture of BI systems separates data from an initial context, and the lack of communications between requests in addition increases this gap. The associative architecture of QlikView, on the contrary, allows to manage interrelations between data not at the application layer, and at the level of internal mechanisms of the platform. At the same time during creation of new selections, the user sees, both the data connected with his request and data which do not enter selection. 2010: QlikView 10

At the beginning of October, 2010 the QlikTech Company released the new version of the QlikView 10 BI system. In release the new types of visualization simplifying studying of data and understanding of the happening processes are provided. For example, histograms of Mekko allow to represent interrelations and to set ratios between dimensional values. Function of associative search in QlikView 10 relies on the data processing mechanism completely in RAM. As in service of instant search Google results are issued in process of input of a request, and the user interface selects important interrelations between data. Thanks to an asynchronous mode of contact of the AJAX client with the QlikView 10 server objects of data visualization are updated in real time. Improvements of the mechanism of calculations and the system of multithreaded reset of objects rely on opportunities of multi-core processors. During beta testing data loading speed during the work on multinuclear computers increased by 200-1000%. Available mechanisms of integration provide ample opportunities of use of methods of visualization and other additional functions. Centralized operation by a system supports balancing of loading, administration and planning of updates.

Main innovations of QlikView 10
