2018: Transfer of 4 thousand Galaxy Note to 8 participants of the Olympic Games

On January 17, 2018 the South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics acting as the official partner of winter Olympic Games 2018 announced that it will hand to athletes and other participants of the forthcoming Olympic Games the model of the Galaxy Note 8 smartphone which is specially produced on this occasion.

The company is going to distribute in total 4 thousand devices Galaxy Note 8 Olympic Edition to athletes and official representatives of the Olympic committees who will gather in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang located in 180 km to the east from Seoul where there will take place from February 9 to February 25 the Winter Olympic Games.

We are proud of an opportunity to provide to all athletes of the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang the special version of our smartphone to help them to stay in touch, to save and share one of the most high points in their life — Younghee Lee, the executive vice president and the head of marketing of Samsung Electronics said.[1]

The company emphasized that the Olympic version of Galaxy Note 8 cannot be purchased on free sale.

The Galaxy Note 8 smartphones which Samsung will distribute to Olympians are equipped with the 6.3-inch frameless Infinity Display screen, the dual camera and stylus S PEN. In Russia the cost of the 64-gigabyte version of the device is 70 thousand rubles (data from official online store Samsung for January 17, 2018).^[2]

The Olympic version of Galaxy Note 8 Olympic Edition will receive the body of white color symbolizing winter sports. On the back panel of the device gold Olympic rings will be engraved. Besides, smartphones will be delivered with the preset thematic welcome screens for the screen devoted to the Olympic subject and the customized application which will in more detail tell about the Winter Olympic Games of 2018.

The exclusive version of Galaxy Note 8 will be received as well participants of the Paralympic Games. For them will apply the Paralympic Games logo on the body of smartphones.

The web designer Mel Takhon posted on the twitter video how it is easy to bypass the scanner of the person on Galaxy Note 8. Takhon keeps two Note 8 opposite to each other on one of which — his photo, and on another — the included system of scanning face^[3] in the experiment].
