2022: Platform closure due to loss-making

At the end of January 2022, it became known about the closure of the platform for investments in the SberCredo small business. The service worked a little over a year.

According to Kommersant, citing materials from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the SberCredo platform has been excluded from the register of crowdland platforms. The SberCredo website indicates that the exclusion from the registry occurred on the basis of a company statement.

In Sbere"" explained to the publication that the bank has studied the market situation and does not plan to resume the platform. All investors registered on the platform were able to fully withdraw funds to their bank accounts. The deadline for returning all loans issued through the SberCredo platform has expired, the bank said.

According to Yuri Kolesnikov, a member of the expert council of the State Duma committee on the financial market, Sberbank's investments could amount to 75 million rubles. Moreover, these costs did not pay off, he is sure.

The project was unsuccessful. The main reason is the initially incorrect business model and positioning, marketing filing, "says Vladislav Oleinikov, Deputy Executive Director of AOIP. - It was based on the premise that borrowers will be those who did not pass the credit requirements of the bank itself.

According to him, banks create platforms that duplicate the credit division of organizations. Because of this, the work of the platforms is ultimately inefficient and incurring losses. As soon as banks build platforms in their ecosystem as a center of additional individual independent products, their activities will become profitable and expedient. But so far, banks are too conservative for this approach, Oleinikov said.

The volume of the crowdlanding market by January 2022 remains small, Sberbank is not interested in such scales, added Timur Kensz, head of Mani Friends, to the newspaper.[1]

Official launch

On December 16, 2019, the official launch of the SberCredo platform took place, through which individuals who are clients of Sberbank can lend to small and microbusiness.

Any Sberbank client aged 25 years can invest through SberCredo. The minimum amount of investments is 5,000 rubles, the maximum reaches 20 thousand rubles (at the time the service starts), but the bank promises to raise the limit value to 1 million rubles in 2020. The term of the loan varies from one to six months.

You can invest in an unlimited number of companies. Moreover, Sberbank's subsidiary, the Outstanding Loans microcredit organization, is the co-investor of each loan: its minimum share in the loan is 10%.

As the chairman of the board of Sberbank Anatoly Popov told Vedomosti, only companies in the Moscow region that are customers of the bank will be able to issue a loan through SberCredo by the end of 2019. It is planned to place the current business on the platform, which has passed the verification and scoring of the bank.

The platform itself will charge borrowers a commission of 5% of the amount raised, and the range of rates is not disclosed (they depend on the level of risk).

Users who want to provide a loan transfer funds to the nominal account of SberCredo. Borrowers will pay back debts to the same account in equal amounts, and the service will then distribute funds between investors minus the 13% income tax.

In early 2020, investors will have access to investment portfolios that consist of five or more borrowers with different levels of risk. At the same time, Sberbank does not give guarantees in the event of a default of the borrower, but only promises to help recover overdue debts from companies.[2]

Announcement of the prototype of the investment P2B platform

On June 5, 2019, Sberbank presented a prototype of the investment P2B platform. The main task of the service from Sberbank is to help everyone to create a successful business in Russia, to form a healthy culture of entrepreneurship, thereby ensuring the well-being of society.

According to representatives of Sberbank, the presented investment P2B platform is a kind of development institution focused on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises of the Russian Federation. It directly connects borrowers and investors, while making the process simple, understandable and accessible to all users. The creation of such sites will simplify the process and make it possible to receive borrowed funds from companies in this segment.

Investors of the site are individuals - clients of Sberbank, and borrowers - representatives of small and microbusiness with already formed business. It is for them that the platform is an alternative way to attract investment.

The problem of banking investment is especially acute for young companies that are at the very beginning of their development and do not have a credit history, and often a positive financial result. We strive to create products and processes that will meet the expectations of our customers and give them opportunities for development, "said Anatoly Popov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank.
