2018: Demonstration of the robot stuntman
At the beginning of July, 2018 the Disney company provided the Stuntronics robot who, as envisioned by developers, will be able to replace the stuntmen duplicating actors in dangerous episodes during shootings of movies.
The robot created in division of Disney Imagineering is capable to execute difficult tricks — for example, the somersault, to be shaken on a rope and to change a landing trajectory in flight and also to strike the superhero's pose.
Besides, legs of the robot can be bent in knees, and hands turn only in a shoulder. The humanoid using sensors traces the provision and can stop rotation for landing in time. Such capabilities provide to the robot accelerometers, laser gyroscopes and the built-in computer with the corresponding software.
The humanoid acrobat using sensors traces the provision and can stop rotation for landing in time. Disney posted video in which showed how the robot is started in air using a swing and, having executed several revolutions, lands in safety network.
At first Stuntronics will be used in amusement parks of Disney as the actor, and later — after completion of mechanisms and algorithms of artificial intelligence — the robot will be able to participate in shootings of movies, replacing people at accomplishment of injury-causing jumps. However, in the company did not call even approximate terms when the machine can replace on the shooting stage of professional stuntmen.
In May, 2018 Disney represented to public attention of the Stickman robot who was only a combination of sensors, drives and structural elements and who resembled nothing the person superhero. Already slightly more than a month later the company showed more perfect Stuntronics.[1]
