2020: Beginning of work of expansion of the Joliot-Curie supercomputer
On January 16, 2019 the companies GENCI also Atos announced the beginning of work supercomputer of the Joliot-Curie expansion. The solution set to Atos is located and controlled teams of experts CEA in the TGCC center and is created based on the solution Atos BullSequana XH2000. Development became the first working supercomputer which includes AMD EPYC processors 7H12 of the next generation.
As it was reported, expansion is a part of the European PPI4HPC project which purpose is acquisition of the innovative computing solutions and solutions for data storage within the joint purchases coordinated by GENCI for the leading HPC-centers CEA/GENCI, CINECA (Italy), JUELICH (Germany) and BSC (Spain).
Results of the first modeling executed on the supercomputer show the high performance and compliance of the solution Atos to assigned tasks. This solution will provide fast and effective porting of scientific applications on future architecture with the increased density and will guarantee an optimal ratio of energy consumption and performance. Stéphane Requena, the technical director of GENCI told |
Expansion of the supercomputer will be soon completely started in the TGCC center in Bryuyer-le-Shatel and will be well to scientists and researchers within competitions of the projects held by GENCI and PRACE. For January, 2020 the Overall cumulative theoretical peak capacity of the Joliot-Curie supercomputer will exceed 22 petaFLOPS.
