Installation of BioSmart Quasar terminals

The BIOSMART company, the resident of Skolkovo Foundation, together with RT Labs took part in creation of a contactless biometric control and management system for access in a skyscraper "A tower of the ministries" on Presnenskaya Embankment in Moscow. On July 10, 2020 the Skolkovo Foundation reported about it.

It is a pilot project of Rostelecom on use of the single biometric system (SBS) in a control and management system for access (ACS) of a government complex on Presnenskaya Embankment. Eight tourniquets on a building checkpoint "A tower of the ministries" are equipped with identification terminals on the person of BioSmart Quasar which are integrated with EBS.

The strategic objective of EBS – to ensure availability and safety of any services: bank, state, social, medical. In my opinion, achievement of this purpose – case of the near future. And, certainly, one of the defining factors on the way to it – reliability and quality of the used equipment. Integrated with EBS, it should identify unmistakably the person on biometric characteristics, have reliable protection against cracking or forgery, it is easy to be integrated into other systems and software packages and also to remain absolutely safe for health in the conditions of a pandemic. Use of BioSmart devices in projects of Rostelecom proves that our equipment completely meets these requirements.

After system implementation all staff of the ministries, the handed-over biometric samples in one of 13.5 thousand departments of 236 banks, come into the building without admissions – a system will recognize their persons even if on the person the medical mask is put on. The built-in algorithms of anti-spoofing do not allow to deceive the device using the photo and video image.

The ACS on the basis of BioSmart Quasar terminals raises the security level of a government complex and provides contactless pass to the building that reduces risk of infection of COVID-19.

The biometrics gradually becomes this conductor in convenient and safe digital city services. It opens already not only access to financial services, but also doors. In 2019 Rostelecom created complex hi-tech IT space in 'A tower of the ministries', having completely equipped it with all relevant digital solutions. In 2020 the company organized a control system of access to the building using data of a single biometric system. Such system of face recognition increases security of all complex, and, above all, allows to reduce the number of social contacts that is especially important in propagation conditions of a koronavirusny infection.

Ten years ago it was difficult to be imagined, but now biometric technologies became a part of our everyday life. It first of all is safe, reliable and eco-friendly. Every year biometric solutions will become cheaper, so, scanners and readers will appear not only at the enterprises in high-tech industries, departmental organizations and banks, but also in private houses.

Beginning of use of EBS

On July 8, 2020 it became known of the beginning of use of a Single biometric system for pass of employees to "A tower of the ministries" in "Moscow City". The project was implemented by Rostelecom, reported on its website.

In  the building of the government complex located on Presnenskaya Embankment in Moscow eight tourniquets with control and management systems for access  (ACS) with function of biometrics were set. The employee approaches a tourniquet where the biometric terminal is installed, looks in the camera, at this time a biometric system identifies the person on the person and transmits a signal to the ACS which permits pass. All procedure before opening of a tourniquet takes no more than three seconds, claim in Rostelecom.

To enter the building on biometrics, the staff of the ministries needs to hand over in advance biometric samples (by July 8, 2020 such opportunity is available in 13.5 thousand departments of 236 banks). After that will be available to them as contactless pass to the building on biometrics, and all services using a Single biometric system. Guests of the government building should address to bureau of admissions where the local database only for pass to the building is created in addition. In the future the ACS with function of biometrics will be used to an input to premises of limited access and also to pass of visitors of "A tower of the ministries". 

According to the director of digital identity of Rostelecom Ivan Berov, in 2019 the company created complex hi-tech IT space in "A tower of the ministries", having equipped it with "all relevant digital solutions". In the 2020th Rostelecom started a control system of access to the building using EBS.
