In Abu Dhabi the Smart City project based on the Cumulocity IoT platform is implemented

On December 11, 2018 the Software AG company announced a successful completion of the large-scale project "Smart City" which was executed together with the partner — Technology Strategies Middle East (TSME) company. The city of Abu Dhabi — the capital of the United Arab Emirates became the place of project implementation, and as the basic IoT-platform the Cumulocity IoT platform was selected.

Earlier in 2018 the municipality of Abu Dhabi started a pilot stage of the Zayed Smart City project calculated on five years and aimed at implementation of technologies of the "smart" city and artificial intelligence. Assessment of viability of the project and key scenarios of use became the main task of a stage.

The Smart City project is result of special approach of the authorities of Abu Dhabi. It is focused on digital transformation of ecological, social and financial aspects of functioning of all districts of the megalopolis and designed to increase quality of life of citizens and guests of the capital. This project helps us to build the future, to implement innovations and to create infrastructure.

At a stage of check of justification of the concept ten scenarios of use were tested. Using sensors, mechanisms of management and the Cumulocity IoT platform interaction of key components on all city was provided. The center of project implementation selected the Region of Kornish. By means of LPWAN (LPWAN) this from the sensors installed on all city were transferred to the central office where the Cumulocity IoT platform was unrolled. Using the functions of integration of the platform which are not requiring writing of the code, specialists exercised monitoring of scenarios of use and control of them.

These ten scenarios covered air quality monitoring, accounting of tangible assets and monitoring of deliveries, condition monitoring of objects, accounting of a consumption of water, detection of cases of defeat of palm trees a weevil, control of street lighting, intellectual management of parkings, waste recycling, monitoring of reservoirs for storage of water and monitoring of swimming pools.

The city authorities of Abu Dhabi — pioneers in the field of implementation of modern technologies of the "smart" city. They developed the realistic plan, tested it in all respects and now use data and technologies to increase the standard of living of the population — all this crucial elements of the "smart" city.
