Russian Railway will invest 2 billion rubles in upgrade of DPC

As TAdviser knew on April 4, 2013, in Major computer center of Russian Railway (GVTs "Russian Railway") based on which DPCs all main IT systems of holding function, the project on upgrade of computing infrastructure is kept. The total cost of the supplied equipment and works is about 2 billion rubles, and the old partner of the company –Technoserv performs them.

Upgrade affects both GVTs "Russian Railway", and its structural divisions: information and analytical centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. The main part of works are the share of the GVTs "Russian Railway" parent organization and the Moscow branch.

The basis of computing infrastructure of GVTs "Russian Railway" is historically formed by servers of IBM. In parent organization within the project the IBM z10 servers to the IBM zEnterprise 196 servers are upgraded, the EMC VMAX disk array and optical multiplexers of Cisco is upgraded and also delivery of the server of IBM r795, containing 128 processors is supposed.

In the Moscow branch of the center to IBM zEnterprise 196 the IBM z9 servers are upgraded, two storage systems of EMC VMAX with a capacity of 77 TB everyone, a backup system of EMC with a capacity of 150 TB and optical multiplexers of Cisco will be delivered.

In the Ekaterinburg and St. Petersburg branches the IBM p750 and p770 servers, and in the last from them – also storage systems of EMC are delivered.

In 2012 GVTs "Russian Railway" also carried out upgrade of DPCs within which the equipment was supplied and works in parent organization, the Moscow and Ekaterinburg branches were performed. Then it cost the center approximately 1.2 billion rubles. Within this project GVTs "Russian Railway" in total received eight servers of IBM among which - models r795, r780 and p770 and also a number of other equipment.
