The IP telephony which became history

The FIFA World Cup held in Russia became this holiday for fans from around the world, having opened for them this Russia – friendly, hospitable, and, above all – developed technology. The admirer of this view with joy was visited by the Russian stadiums, but only architects, builders and IT specialists know what forces succeeded to organize the tournament which became a revelation for a sporting world. On arenas all trifles were provided, and the arising problems were solved in the most foreground mode.

This point – need of quick response to any emergency situations and at a construction stage, and already on the course of competitions – became the reason for which all arenas equipped with the advanced UC systems for unified communications.

The stadium in Saransk was built to the World Cup

The most interesting cases were implemented in Samara and Saransk. The question of quality of daily used telephone communication rose also on "Samara to the Arena" (after the championship it was renamed into Space of Arena), and on "Mordovia to the Arena". The first accomodates 45 thousand viewers. The second – is slightly more than 44 thousand.

In both cases there was a need as much as possible to cover uninterrupted telephone communication all administration rooms and operational services. Mobilization of employees became an important issue. The IP telephony and traditional inter-chip digital links became an exit.

The advanced communication at the advanced stadiums

In both cases it was decided to ask for the help specialists of Solyaris company – the authorized company integrator which has the status of the technical center Panasonic. Works in Saransk were appointed to April, 2018, and in Samara – for May. As crucial elements of solutions both there, and there, IP PBXs were selected from the last line of Panasonic KX-NSX2000RU [1].

At the Saransk stadium two KX-NSX2000RU IP PBXs, one IP PBX of the previous generation KX-NS500RU and also 28 KX-HDV430 SIP telephones were installed. Simple IP telephone sets on places it appeared much more – 520 pieces. KX-NSX2000RU were set in different server premises which are on a decent distance from each other. It is dictated by desire to provide the maximum reservation of a system in case of failure of one of rooms for the external reasons.

In Samara cost one KX-NSX2000RU IP PBX in addition to whom also used KX-NS500RU, and the number of KX-HDV430 SIP telephones was 20 pieces. These devices differ color a touchscreen display, the built-in video camera and availability of 16 SIP lines. The wire videophone supports not only video calls using HD-VoIP, but also a HD quality sound. Mechanisms of electronic control by a tube are available, and the notebook includes up to 500 numbers that more than it is enough not only for stadium, but also for the large company.

Month on installation, years on operation

As a result implementation of each of projects – from the beginning of works before commissioning – took exactly a month. By the beginning of the World Cup all systems were checked not only within piloting, but also in "fighting" conditions.

Process of a commissioning of the new platform when using the modern IP telephony protocols became simpler in comparison with traditional telephony: there is no need of installation of hardware payments and a component. Settings are carried out by software configuration and can be executed far off under control of the authorized engineer, – Boris Sturua adds.

The main outcome of implementation it is worth recognizing not so much sure gains from the beginning of work of UC platforms how many image pluses for Russia in general. Matches took place in Saransk and Samara without the slightest complications, and a problem if they also arose, quickly were solved the employees using the fixed communication system.

Samara as a result hosted six matches of a tournament among which there was both a meeting of Russian national team, and one of quarterfinals. In Saransk held four games of a group stage.

If nevertheless to speak about the cost of projects, then they were reduced the price considerably by the choice made by customers for benefit of IP telephone sets. First, it was not necessary to build a separate telephone structured cabling system; secondly, providing stadium with communication with a sound in the HD format became a pleasant bonus.

Now at these stadiums two Russian clubs – Samara Krylja Sovetov and Saransk Mordovia play the matches. So the set UC systems continue to serve the Russian soccer and its admirers and after the end of the World Cup.
