Rosatom began installation of standard DPCs on the NPP

In July, 2013 on the Smolensk and Balakovo NPP installation and the subsequent commissioning of standard DPC will begin. The contract for accomplishment of the corresponding works Rosatom signed with CompuTel company.

The standard DPC is created based on the solution FlexPod for VMware collected from VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus and vCenter Standard,Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), switches of the Nexus family, drives of Netapp of FAS and a set of managing software of FlexPod, said in terms of reference on execution of works.

The DPC will provide itself the general virtual infrastructure giving such functionality as centralized operation by all components of infrastructure of DPC, providing the centralized failsafe DWH, virtualization of the desktop systems, an opportunity to separate the virtualized general infrastructure into separate components, a safe usage mode of shares (multi-tenancy), the notification about important and critical events in infrastructure of DPC, etc.

In plans of Rosatom - over time to set standard DPCs on each NPP. About it and also about the conducted project development of such DPC, TAdviser in May, 2013 was told by the director of IT department of corporationEvgeny Charkin.

According to him, on standard DPCs with a standard set of the equipment local application which are demanded for work of the station should be hosted. All-corporate IT systems of the NPP, as well as other enterprises of Rosatom, will be located in the internal corporate DPCs located in different parts of the country.

Installation of standard DPCs on the NPP is a part of the program of state corporation for decrease in technological and information hazards. According to the results of the project the state corporation expects to reduce risks at the expense of "the reliable, simplified solution of DPC and model of joint support for safe and reliable transition to virtualization and further – to a cloud environment".

In addition the project, the program also includes implementation of standard solutions of creation of network on the unified equipment for all telecom nodes, upgrade of DPC of central office of the company and DPC of the crisis center, creation of DPC of reserve DPC of concern on the New Voronezh NPP and some other points.
