Rostelecom has integrated devices based on the Aurora OS into the O2O - Infrastructure Operator for Operators project

Customers: Rostelecom

Moscow; Telecommunications and Communications

Product: Aurora OS (formerly SailfishOS)

Project date: 2019/05  - 2021/07
Project's budget: 2.894 billion руб.

2021: Integration of the Aurora OS-based device into the project "O2O - infrastructure operator for operators"

Rostelecom on August 31, 2021 announced that it had integrated devices based on the Aurora mobile operating system (OS) into the O2O infrastructure operator for operators project. Field technical specialists who are engaged in servicing communication facilities of other operators are equipped with smartphones with the Digital Installer mobile application on the Aurora OS, which allows you to fully automate work processes.

At the first stage, the project involved employees of 30 regional branches of Rostelecom, which serve base stations of third-party operators. The employee's corporate smartphone received the maximum functions of a mobile workplace. As a result, it was possible to abandon the design of outfits on paper, which had to be received and handed over in the office of the customer company. With the help of a mobile device, you can build the optimal route of movement, as well as monitor the employee's availability of tools and materials necessary to perform tasks.

Now the whole process has become as clear and transparent as possible. The mobile application "Digital Installer" on "Aurora" allows all participants to interact in real time: the dispatcher - create an online service order, monitor the timing and quality of repair work; to the executor - quickly start the task, generate and send to the customer photo reports of the work results, which contain watermarks with GPS coordinates and date of completion. Thus, the solution allows you to build an end-to-end process between the customer's network management center, the contractor's dispatch service and the technician who is directly on site and servicing the telecom infrastructure.

Within the framework of the project "O2O - infrastructure operator for operators," Rostelecom provides service and continuous operation of more than 181 thousand kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines and over 80 thousand mobile base stations of other telecom operators.

The mobile application on the Aurora operating system is integrated into the Unified Digital Installer platform developed by the Rostelecom technical infrastructure unit. The platform automates the work of all traveling technical personnel, in particular, already more than 90% of the orders for repair work and installation of services are issued in paperless online format. Digital technologies have reduced the time to complete tasks and increased the efficiency of using specialists.

The Digital Installer project, implemented using the Aurora OS, has increased the efficiency of Rostelecom's production and business processes. Our company is ready to implement similar projects in enterprises of a wide range of industries. 'Aurora' is a Russian mobile OS that has the necessary certificates from the FSB and FSTEK, which allows you to implement solutions on its basis at critical infrastructure facilities, while guaranteeing the independence of the platform and reliable information security, "said Oleg Polyakov, director of the project" Trusted Mobile Environment "of Rostelecom.

We already have projects with Russian Railways and power engineers to automate the work of visiting personnel, in particular, bypass routes and repair teams. Soon, during the All-Russian Population Census, 360 thousand tablets will be used under the control of the Aurora OS. The Digital Installer project at Rostelecom is another evidence of the maturity and effectiveness of the domestic operating system, which allows you to create a trusted mobile infrastructure to solve a variety of business problems, said Mikhail Pisarev, commercial director of Open Mobile Platform.
