Rostelecom set "smart lighting" in Novocherkassk

2020: Completion of installation of a system of energy efficient lighting

On March 10, 2020 Rostelecom reported that it in Novocherkassk completed installation of a system of energy efficient lighting. The project is implemented for the investment account of the company and according to the concept of "The smart city" within the national program "Digital Economy of Russia".

The national digital provider replaced more than nine thousand lamps with bright LED lamps, updated old power lines and installed over two hundred distribution cabinets. All infrastructure is connected with a single system of management thanks to which lighting joins automatically and switched off, depending on weather conditions the luminous flux is regulated and also remote data collection, condition monitoring of the equipment is conducted and monitored unauthorized connections. The energy-saving technologies integrated into the project will help municipality to save up to 60% of operating costs on lighting of city streets.

Novocherkassk became the sixth municipal entity of the Rostov region which signed the power service contract with Rostelecom. Lighting upgrade – one of basic steps on the way to the smart and safe city. First of all it is felt by inhabitants: on light streets there is less crime and road accident, comfortably to walk and return from school, and power saving releases funds for upgrade of other sections of lighting, notes Sergey Mordasov, the director of the Rostov branch PJSC Rostelecom

Contract term between Rostelecom and municipality will be seven years for which the company will provide warranty service of all infrastructure.
