As the telephone network of Sberbank is arranged

Sberbank has the extensive telephone network covering the whole country.

The vast majority of the park of the equipment of network is made by solutions based on products Avaya and Unify. The Segment of "VIP-telephony" of Sberbank is constructed based on the equipment Cisco.

In total in Sberbank as of the middle of 2017 about 260 thousand employees work. In a case with solutions of Unify the subsystem of telephone communication of level of central office should provide a connectivity to 300 thousand SIP subscribers and support up to 180 thousand simultaneous SIP sessions. In a case with Avaya - a connectivity up to 250 thousand SIP subscribers and support up to 160 thousand simultaneous SIP sessions.

Sberbank characterizes the existing infrastructure of a single corporate telephone network by the following shortcomings:

  • big heterogeneity of telephone systems (over 6 different vendors);
  • a large number of the outdated telephone systems which left support of the producer that leads to increase in risk of failure of telephone services which are necessary for users;
  • the decentralized management structure and supports of a single corporate telephone network;
  • the unified plan of numbering for all divisions of bank and child dependent societies is not implemented;
  • there is no uniform level of service of telephone services for users, there is no possibility of implementation of a call of any employee;
  • the lowered reliability, in view of use of the equipment of different producers and also connection nodes (gateways, connectors, transit nodes).

IT infrastructure of Sberbank consists of the following network segments:

  • Internal segment (Alpha). Network segment with the raised security level in which industrial automated systems without Internet access are placed.
  • External segment (Sigma). The network segment having Internet access.
  • Technology segment (Tech-Lan) – a segment of a transport network over which the Alpha segment to the packet filter of the network layer is constructed.

Telephone systems of bank are placed, mainly, in a technology segment and in an internal segment and are integrated at the "Central Office — Territorial Bank" level. At the same time telephone systems at the level of the head departments and internal structural divisions which are under organizational supervision of territorial banks and also the majority of telephone networks of child dependent societies are not connected to a single telephone network.

Failure from plans for upgrade

In September, 2017 Sberbank decided not to upgrade a single corporate telephone network, bank representatives reported TAdviser.

On September 20, 2017 the decision to refuse holding an open competition at the choice of the supplier on rendering consulting services in upgrade of a single corporate telephone network for needs of Sberbank in connection with requirement change was made, - told TAdviser in the press service of Sberbank.

Plan of upgrade

In December, 2016 Sberbank announced competition at the choice of the consultant for upgrade of a single corporate telephone network[1]. The starting price of the contract was 500 million rubles.

Within the project the bank was going to upgrade network based on solutions Unify or Avaya to reduce the annual costs intercity and zone communication, by planned connection of jobs of telephony and functioning of network and also for increase in its security level, availability and reliability.

For this purpose it was required to solve the following problems:

  • upgrade of the existing core of a telephone network to target architecture;
  • unification of EKTS services;
  • inclusion in network of 100% of the existing jobs of employees of the bank;
  • decommissioning of the obsolete and inefficient equipment without loss of service for users;
  • transition to the centralized use of services of operators in connection to a public telephone network;
  • failure from inappropriate city trunk lines in divisions of bank;
  • transition to centralized operation by a pool of licenses;
  • transition to centralized operation and administration of elements of architecture of a telephone network.

In terms of reference it was said that for upgrade the bank should decide on the choice of equipment manufacturer according to the results of tender. The scenario of upgrade provided possible use of the equipment both from Avaya, and from Unify.
