In the middle of June, 2019 it became known of use in Canadian pharmacy chain Shoppers Drug Mart blockchain- the solution intended for control of supply of marijuana. The project is implemented with assistance of a startup TruTrace Technologies.

According to the Boomberg agency, a blockchain system will allow to detect and monitor movement of medical marijuana in a supply channel. In particular, it will be possible to learn a strain  of hemp and genetic properties.

Thanks to transparency of process of turnover of marijuana doctors will be able to write out more effectively recipes and also will obtain reliable information about a psychoasset means during performing clinical trials.

For example, the doctor can tell that the patient accepting a certain sort or a hybrid of marijuana which contains a certain chemical element received excellent results. And we will be able to look at efficiency of this sort at other patients. It is huge jump for the industry — the vice president for business development of Shoppers Drug Mart Ken Weisbrod reported.

According to him, the blockchain system, the developed TruTrace, will reduce concerns of patients and doctors and will make the use of medical marijuana "more similar to traditional medicine". It is necessary that such means were standardized and checked by clinical trials, and the new technology will be able to show it, Veysbrod added.

The CEO of TruTrace Robert Galarza hoped for that, the technology will not be limited only Shoppers Drug Mart, and it will be used in other large networks of drugstores, such as CVS and Walgreens which already sell medicine on the basis of cannabis. By June 18, 2019 Shoppers Drug Mart  also suggests to purchase medicinal hemp, but only on the Internet.[1]
