The police of the USA use UAVs for identification of sick COVID-19

At the end of April, 2020 the police of the city of Uestport (State of Connecticut) announced the beginning of use of "pandemic UAVs" which will allow to estimate temperature of people, the heart rate and frequency of breath at distance to 60 m and also to reveal sneezing and cough.

The police of Uestport reported that it cooperates with Draganfly company which decided to provide the UAVs for fight against spread of a coronavirus of COVID-19. In the press release of Draganfly it is reported that "the pandemic UAV" will be equipped with special sensors and the systems of computer vision and will allow to use biometric indications for assessment of spread of a coronavirus among the population.

Identification of sick and contact people became one of the main problems for such cities as Uestport, during COVID-19 pandemic, - the member of the municipal government Jim Marpe explained. - One of methods - identification of the main symptoms. Thanks to Draganfly and a command of the University of South Africa under the leadership of the head of department of sensor systems, professor Javaan Chahl, we will be able to estimate far off many indicators of health of the population and quicker to cope with the current and future emergencies in the field of health care.

The police stated that UAVs will provide monitoring of the population from potential risk groups, including elderly people and also will carry out the assessment in large meetings of people on beaches, stations, in parks and recreation areas and also in shopping centers. According to developers, UAVs will not be used in the private territory and do not include a sensing technology of persons.
